Welcome to the forum Topsy.Flecainide takes an hour or two to take effect. It does not improve its effectiveness over time but the dose can be adjusted somewhat.

Normally you start on 50mg x2 per day but if it does not completely halt the arrhythmia then the cardiologist may increase it to 100mg x2 or a max of 300mg pd.

Thanks for replying. How many days before I know whether its successful or not ? I have been taking it for 4 days and am still having the palpitations and irregular rhythms for about 2 hours. I’m on the dose you mentioned.

I mentioned two doses. 50mg x 2 pd and 100mg x 2 pd.I also said it takes 1 to 2 hours to take full effect.

Flecainide will not stop all ectopic beats or palpitations.

I am on 100mg x 2 and on the odd occasion my heart would start to go into tachyarrythmias but it would revert to normal within seconds. This I understand is common as the Flecainide does it's job and halts the tachycardia.

I hope this helps.

Hi I tried flecainide, as a pill in the pocket, for atrial flutter and fibrillation, but it had no effect. I tried taking betablockers (bisoprolol) as well but they made me faint. Currently just living with the condition, which has lessened, and hoping it will go away. However, I still take anti-coagulants in case. Fatigue is my biggest problem, absolutely no energy.
