Normal body temperature.

Hi I am new to the forum . I have a question about body temperature. My average temperature is 35.6C. When I have been out in the cold it goes down to 33.4 C.

I have taken this on several occasions and get the same results.

I spoke to my practice nurse who said that my core temp must be higher but I always get the same oral reading with a mercury thermometer and 2 digital thermometers.

Should I be concerned or is it normal? I would be most grateful for any advice?

This is a forum for people with heart problems, not a diagnostic service. If you have a medical problem, you should contact your GP's practice.

Feeling cold can be a consequences of treatment for cardiovascular disease. I once saw a thermal image of myself and, yes, where I felt cold (fingers and toes and at a scar site where an artery was removed) corresponded with cold spots with poor circulation. I think it would help if trantor could give more context to the request.

I am not seeking a diagnosis just wanted to know if it is normal. Rufus

There can be various measurement errors taking a temperature. But a 2 degree temperature difference seems large. Have you looked at this: nhs.uk/common-health-questi... and do you feel cold? Given that this is a forum for cardiovascular disease, are you concerned that a seemingly low temperature is indicative of a cardiovascular disease?

That's strange then .To be honest you've stumped me there. I suppose there must be variations between individuals and it's a case of knowing what's normal for you.

Is that with a tympanic thermometer? One that goes in the ear? Apart from anal, this gives a fairly accurate temperature. Low temperature can be associated with sepsis but would expect to see other symptoms.

No an oral thermometer

I have a constant cough and blocked nostrils and am worried that it may be Covid.

Taking my temperature with a mouth thermometer is impossible as I need to sneak some breath in but it drops the reading by a degree or two.

So make sure you keep your mouth tight closed.
