I am waiting to find out about surgery for aeortic valve replacement , surgeon has agreed in principle ,a,m 72 , what are my chances of ge the operation

Age doesn't come into it - I was 85 when I had mine. If your consultant thinks you would benefit s/he will put you forward and obviously explain it all to you and possibly get a specialist nurse to talk to you. When is a different matter as it depends so much on where you live, the urgency of your particular case, normal considerations, but you should get the chance to clarify this at your next appointment (when you get a copy of the letter s/he sends to your GP there might be more information).
