I had my first appointment yesterday - face to face but covid safe with nurse and exercise specialist. Aced the step test, got strict instructions to spend more time warming up before exercise and also discussed maximum heart rate for ongoing exercise. Was able to ask questions about my drugs regime and had good discussion about my beta blocker dosage vs. current low resting heart rate where I felt listened to; they will suggest lowering the dose to my GP. All in all a good experience. At the moment they are not sure if they will be able to do a face to face exercise class after May 17th or have to carry on with zoom.
Also discussed why I got an HA given my low risk score, opinion was that the current risk score GPs use does not put enough weight on poor family history.

So good this rehab service is starting up again. It’s been so important in my (and many others) adaptation to heart issues. Not sure about your comment about the weight given to family issues......it’s the one we just can’t influence, of course! Do you have any evidence for that, because I had assumed that risk measure came from very well founded research?
Thanks, no, no evidence, except if the risk score had been different I would have had more tests when I told my GP that my younger highly active sister had had an HA at 50, and my father died at the same age I am now from an HA, basically the medical system shrugged their shoulders and said your cholesterol and weight are fine your BP is OK and you don't smoke so go away.
Hi
I had my first Cardiac Rehab face to face yesterday too!
It was so good to speak to two professionals and get such good advice.
Definitely the warming up and down before any exercise was the message I came out with as well. Seems it’s very important indeed.
I had my scar checked visually, BP, heart rate, oxygen saturation done and a huge amount of general wellbeing questions asked.
It felt so good to have a lengthy discussion about my recovery.
Feel so much better for it and knowing I was doing more or less the right things to aid my own recovery.
Like you, so glad they’re back. In saying that my next appointment is by phone but I’m told it will be back soon as a class.
I’m going to do the BHF video cardiac rehabilitation now that I know it’s safe to do so.
Gook luck and hope everything goes to plan with recovery.
