Hi
I’m new after having a heart attack on Friday morning and having two stents fitted - still in shock.
Thank you that was helpful and reassuring after reading your message
Hi Beegee,Welcome to the Heartie club. As Joe says it is early days for you, but we are all alive, thanks to the NHS. In my case I had a HA that came from nowhere in July 2020, I was getting up that morning to go running with the group I’m in. I was 51 (now 52), active, never smoker, eat well, relatively fit. It remains unexplained why it happened, so I’ve given up asking and have moved on with a positive outlook. I got over the night fear after a few weeks and I hope you do too. My advice is to trust the experts, stuck rigidly to the medication plan (I have not missed a dose of pills give or take half an hour at 9am and 8pm, and do the rehab stuff.
I wish you well, and we are here to support.
Graham
Thank you GRAHAM Yours is an interesting story - so young
Best wishes
oh a meer baby 2 heart ttacks and 5 stents, im now a jibbering wreck but getting better slowly. i really can sympathise with you youll get better each day but be patient, im now walking a mile 3 times a week try to do it every day but still feel too tired ....or just plain lazy, good luck and dont go too fast,
Same thing happened to me last Wednesday. One stent and home the next day. Have to admit to feeling very good and relieved it all go sorted so quickly. Apart from having to remember all the tablets I’m quite happy. It was a shock at the time but I looked up how long stents last for and it seems they’ll outlast me. Happy days.
Hi Beegee. Glad all is OK after your HA.
My one criticism of everything to do with my HA is that if I wanted counselling or to speak to anyone, it was going to be a 9 month wait due to cuts. I had ptsd following my HA (still have) but manage it well now and sometimes even laugh at myself when it kicks in. Best advice I can give is don't bottle up things. Talk to everyone you can about what happened and accept that the mental health effects are as big as the physical effects in many ways.
I celebrated my 2nd re-birthday yesterday. Enjoy your new life to the full and keep smiling 👍😁
Thank you
Hi. It's early days but trust me you will get use to it with time. It does hit hard at first.
Hi Beegee, good to hear from you and I am pleased that you are fine after your HA. The most important thing is to stay positive. For me, that has been key over the past three and a half years sInce my HA. I was back doing what I love to do, climbing hills, in three months and I haven't looked back since. Working around this during lockdown has been mentally tough, but I have kept fit and I am ready to go when we are allowed.
My best wishes for the future. 😀

Hi BeegeeWelcome to the ticker team. I have just started back, on a phased return, at work after 6 weeks off following my H A and stent fitted. I feel okay and the spasms have eased so no discomfort to speak of. A lot of meds to get used to but you will and they do seem to help.
What I thought was indigestion was a bit more serious but I am still here and more aware of taking care of myself than ever. Take it easy and build up exercise slowly and you will feel better sooner than you think.
Cardiac Rehab Team are a useful resource for any concerns and quicker than trying to get through to a GP at the moment so please call yours if you have any worries or questions.
We are all on here because we understand what is happening with you as we have been where you are. I have found this group so useful in the past few weeks and to know someone is there is a comfort. Take heart and I wish you the best for your personal recovery. 😽
Hi Beegee, welcome to the group. I had a heart attack, cardiac arrest and stent fitted in 2019 at the age of 45. I'm glad to hear you're doing well and this group is brilliant as they'll be someone here who understands exactly what you're going through. I remember the shock and physical exhaustion in the days that followed my HA and being worried about small pains in my chest, that turned out to be the stent 'settling' in (but that no one had thought to mention). If/when you're offered a cardio rehabilitation course, do it. It's ran by specialist nurses and helps rebuild your cardio/strength in a safe environment whilst meeting people in your area who have also experienced heart problems. You probably feel a little numb at the moment (and you will go through a variety of emotions along the way) but if you take care of yourself - follow the guidance/advice provided - you will start feeling more like yourself in no time. Take care.
Hi, As you can see there is loads of support and similar stories here, you will be welcome to just drop any of us a line or place general queries or just Hello. Its been a great support to me also, I had a HA in May 2019 and one stent, it all gets better with time, I lost weight eat healthy now, drink less and happy for another chance in life. I now run 5K every week, cycle to work and smile as I am still here. Any queries and support just ask.
Thank you Phil
Hello Beegee123. exactly this day last year i had a heart attack out of the blue ,taken to hospital in an emergency ambulance and stent procedure done and let home next day because it was the first day of covid lockdown.....it was a scary year and the emotions i went through from anxiety, fear, anger and the changes in lifestyle felt like climbing a mountain sometimes, and because nobody can see any physical scars,it can be difficult dealing with the emotional scars that no one can see,but the support i recieved on this forum was uplifting and i knew i wasnt on my own.... so today i am sooo happy to reach this milestone and feeling good health wise,so good luck Beegee you will get there and your lifestyle will be different but healthier....onward and upward and self care at all times!!!!!👍
Hi Beegee123, I had my CPI done yesterday 1 stent fitted, Consultant confirmed I had a HA 1st January2021 while I was at work as a home support worker.. me thinking I had gallbladder trouble!!! It's been interesting reading all the comments you've had from everyone keep well.
Hi Beegee
A sincere warm welcome to this forum full of very experienced fellow hearties . We are here to support you if you need us and it’s invaluable in the early days post HA. I had a HA a year ago 1 stent and suffered from PTSD . I had extreme anxiety and thought in the early days I was having another HA. It was just the stent settling down like others no one informed me of this .
I’m happy to say I’m so much better now with my mental health and going forward like others on here . You will get there just take little steps to recovery .
Wishing you the very best and we are here if you need us x
