My husband has an aortic valve replacement 8 months ago and is so much better now.. he walks daily without getting out of breath and feel able to do so much more than before. He does still have a sore sternum but the scar is all fine no redness or anything. He says his sternum click when lying down abs sometime when he’s doing stuff. Will the clicking go or is there a problem with his sternum.
Thank you
Carol

I have no idea if this is normal or not, but it certainly does this for me too. I had a valve replacement in 2019 and nearly 2 years later it still does this. I did speak to my GP and the only answer they cam up with is that sometimes muscles and bones etc just don't go back the same way they were and clicks and lumps etc are part of life.
I hope your husband and you are getting on ok otherwise? It must be tough for him, not only after the op, but having lots of other restrictions imposed on him now.
Don't be scared to ring the GP or hospital if any concerns and of course we are all here for a general chat.
I had my AD nearly four years ago, and still get a burning pain in my sternum if I lay on my side, not all the time, but I have to be very careful turning over in bed. For the first time after mentioning this before at my Cardiac check ups, the guy I saw asked if I could feel any wires poking out. I can't, but it looks like I have a problem with my sternum not knitting back together properly. Yours clicking could be the same. Have you asked your cardiologist?
