Hi there, Ask your doctor to refer you to a cardiologist. If you’re really worried, you could make a private appointment to see a consultant. TheyMay suggest a monitor to wear for a few days . Good luck.

I waited 6 weeks to get results back from hospital i did wear a moniter for 24 hours and then handed in to hospital so maybe the doctor just read what was on the results idont no

Hi, can I just say I had palpitations since I was in my teens which got much worse as I got older. I had ECGs and nothing was found ever. I have no proof, but wonder if it was my aortic valve? In 2017 I had an aortic dissection emergency surgery and they also replaced my aortic valve.I had a palpitation attack the second week I was in hospital after my op, and the Consultant was shocked my Dr had never given me any medication for them! He prescribed Beta blockers (bisoprolol) and that seems to have done the trick.

It's worth asking about beta blockers for stopping the palpitations - they did work for me, but I realise we all have different make-up. Worth asking though.

Best wishes

Denise

Hi. No I don't have palpitations now, so presume the beta blockers are doing their job.

I found ECGs don't show palpitations up. One Christmas morning I went to the emergency doctor at the hospital as I had an attack and it wouldn't stop. I had ECG and other heart monitoring and nothing showed, the attack stopped by itself after about 2 hours. I used to be able to stop them with deep breathing, taking a very deep breath and holding it as long as I could, then exhaling as much as I could, then repeat, but as I got older this didn't work and I just had to wait for them to stop. It was very frightening.

As I said, the cardiac consultant when I had my op was really surprised my GP had never prescribed medication for them. He put me on 5mg bisoprolol in the morning and 5mg at night, but I recently cut that down to 5mg in the morning and 2.5mg at night.

It did seem to work for me, but as I said we are all different but it's worth asking.

Best wishes

Denise
