I know that the meds make bruising more prevalent but is there ever too much? Currently I have 14 and when a couple fade they are replaced quite quickly. Back in November I was admitted to hospital with a nose bleed and the cardiac team weren’t keen on reducing my meds (aspirin, ticagrelor and Viazem)
My senior management (better half) is a little worried.

Hello and welcome. Ticagrelor makes you bruise really badly. I was on it for a year and had the most awful bruising . I only had to touch something and I would bruise. Somebody I work d with took me to one side and asked if I was ok at home! Since stopping it I haven't bruised at all. I'm still on aspirin. I know people that say aspirin makes you bruise but I haven't had any problems. It is worrying when you see yourself covered and I understand how your partner feels. How long do you have to take the ticagrelor for??
I had extensive bruising when on pragursel. Only had to have a silight knock and i would badly bruise.unintentional wgt loss was a concern with the dosage, the wgt loss was put down to anxiety although I'm not convinced and has yet to be resolved so I was swapped to clopidogral which did lessen the bruising.
Interesting. I would get really bad bruises for insignificant knocks that would take weeks to go. I thought it was due to the Apixiban blood thinners that I take - but in actual fact since I came off Clopidogrel (after 12 months in October) the bruising has been much less. So I conclude Clopidogrel must have been the main cause.My own experience is that unless you really research these kind of side effects yourself nobody really gives you much information. Hence I find this forum more useful that East Sussex Health Trust - particularly in the age of unsatisfactory 'telephone appointments'.
Yes I agree .I to am under East sussex Health Trust. Have had dieticians assessment cancelled till April in a letter that advised me to eat butter and cream and how to make a milk shake! Not great for someone after heart attack ! The least they could do is a vidio call surely .Sorry iv strayed of original question a bit!
Well I never even got to see a dietician in 17 months and counting.
After my Heart Attack care on the High Dependency ward was excellent - after that it all went downhill fast. And that was before Covid.
cakesandbakes Hidden I agree that there appears to be a reluctance to provide information on the side effects. I know of guys in my rehab group who decided to stop. I had great fun bouncing from neurologist to cardiologist and back again where both said my symptoms were not related to the drugs. Thankfully my GP was great and decided to change meds under control. The downside was that the neurologist concluded that my TIA had caused minor brain damage and now have Amytriptiline added to the list! Woe betide me if I forget to turn a light off or something as the wife says "it's your brain damage". Still without her I wouldn't be here to type. 🥰
I’ve been on Clopidogrel for a few weeks and now have added Aspirin this week. In the shower this morning I counted 23 bruises just on my legs! I wasn’t worried, bit reading this, maybe I should be.
Mazmum I hope I haven't caused you to worry, I've had them for nearly 3 years now and they don't bother me but just pondering what 'too many' might be.
I’m not really worried, I thought I might be average, but maybe not. My husband says I’ve got the legs of an 8 year old footballer!
