Talk too much

To all Members. I just wonder if I talk to much on here and drive you all mad. I have noted I say a lot whilst others are more to the point. Please be honest so I can moderate my participation if I become too repetitive. Thank you SmileyIan.

I remember your first post. Half way through I had to go for a tea break! 🍵

Joking apart being overly verbose can detract from a post.

Hi Ian,

I just looked at your posts and to my mind they are fine.

But then I am on the Autism spectrum !

Do you think you talk to much or has someone said that to you?

I only ask because it seemed surprising that you asked that and being bleedin autistic I analyse and get my 🔍 and think Why did Ian ask that?

If not enough people say you are off topic and rambling ( and frankly your efforts are feeble in that direction😂😂😂)

you can come to me for lessons I will show you how to do it properly!!!🤣

I was a diplomat here in Singapore and got used to explaining everything twice, especially when dealing with PRC and Local folk. My wife always said I talked far too much so felt slightly self conscious on here. Others get to the point quickly. 😀

From my experience wives ( me being one myself) always tell our husband's they talk to much, leave clothing on the floor, never put the loo seat down, mmm thinking about it in my case my husband says the majority of those things to me🤔🤭!!!!

Thank you Rosie78. I will shorten my questions and responses as I do think I over elaborate somewhat. However I love reading others long posts as I learn so much on here reading all the different ailments.e

Exactly - it's learning so don't even think about giving us the Reader's Digest version! A short quip, a 'here's a link you might like to try (followed by the link)' but otherwise, add to the knowledge base. Please:)

Good question Ian! But I think people participate for lots of different reasons.

When responding, I initially go for the short, very focussed posts, that seem keener on specific answers. But if it’s a topic I’m struggling with myself, then I like a good long (interesting) ramble.

So I might skip over any repetition, but it’s up to me make a selection, and I really think it’s up to you to write how you want.

LOL - I'm the wrong person to even try discussing long wordy posting as I freely admit I write some of the longest posts on this forum!

I don't think you're 'guilty' of any overdoing it, Ian, not a bit. Keep on writing as needed, anyone who finds something 'too long' will simply scroll past leaving the rest of us to get on with a good discussion:)

You always make me laugh Sunnie2day but you as others have, have gone through a lot.

If the post is something I have an interest in a ramble is ok but if it isn’t I will scroll past so I wouldn’t worry, ramble away each to their own 😂

Yes but understand why. Having also worked in Asia (Vietnam) the need to talk with westerners becomes a treat and sometimes you forget to keep it simple. And your former career also involved a lot of talking. But this forum is full of good listeners with time on our hands.

You are using the forum correctly to get information on all your worries, if that means long posts then carry on. When reading a glass of wine 🍷 recommendation 😂

I love long postings Smileyian. I am new to this group & am learning a lot from the others. They always have time to give help & suggestions. I did wonder if my posts were too long as well. We are all different rather like our heart conditions some of us do long posts & others short. Just carry on being you. As your name suggests you are smiley as am I so keep doing what you do best. Enjoy your retirement in Singapore. Been there a couple of times over the years & it’s a lovely clean & safe country. Best wishes for a long & happy retirement
