Hi friends.
Am having stress MRI tomorrow, a bit anxious, anyone on here had one and how did you feel during and after the procedure?
I experienced an MRI stress test last summer. The stated intention was to increase my heart rate to what I thought was a very high number. They reassured me that they had the ability to intervene if I got in distress. In fact, I found the experience OK and nothing like I had imagined. I was in the scanner for a little while before they introduced the "stress agent" via a canula and the only sensation I experienced was that for some reason I could taste it which they said was not unusual. They continually spoke to me during the process. I was not aware of any "stress" and they were happy with the results. I had to sit for 15 minutes afterwards in a side room and drink some water while they observed that I was OK. I had no after effects.
Thanks Jo, very happy to hear this. Had OHS/ HA and other issues in past six months- things are calm just now so hopefully this is going to be fine too. X
Had one 2 weeks ago. All together it took about an hour an a quarter in the scanner. Keep your eyes closed and do everything they say. It's necessary so you need to just get through it 👍. You'll be fine.
I’ve had about 4. So it’s like any MRI although if you get a new machine they are much quieter. You are continually reassured, they can hear you and you have a panic button if you need it. When the drug is administered through the canula your pulse rate increases and you might feel a bit sweaty and a little breathless at the peak. However that lasts for seconds and then you’re back to normal. It’s completely painless.
Hello Wildmeadow, I had one around 18months ago & it was really ok. The radiologist’s assistant was very funny so that kept me amused / distracted throughout. I had to ask after the test if the injection had worked as I honestly couldn’t feel any change after they confirmed that it was about to happen during the test - it had. It all seemed very routine & unconcerning to be fair, I’m sure you’ll find similar. Best wishes. Stay strong. 💪

I had one just before Xmas 2019 I think called a Perfusion stress test which may or may not be exactly the same as what you are getting. It really isn't anything to worry about just a bit longwinded, at least in my case. I think it took around 2-3 hours as you get injected with stuff that speeds up your heart and ECG's, and various other traces taken. I think I then had to go off for a while to rest, eat, and drink before the last stage where I was injected with something (some kind of dye I think) and had to sit for a while before the scan/MRI was taken. None of it was painful, other than the usual prick when needles went in. The speeding up your heart rate drug made you feel odd and seemed to give a bit of an odd taste or smell or something.
I then had to return two weeks later for the scan bit again but no preceding 'stress test'.
I took myself by car and felt fine following the procedure - hope this helps. Best of luck - it will be over in no time.
HiYou feeling anxious about this is probably normal, but will not help stress level!I didn't feel anything before, just thought of it as another scan since I have had lots of different types and that was just pretty much the same!before during and right after. All that I was worried about was the result which is different obviously for different people, and I also suffer from anxiety ptsd!.
Got through this, was anxious but controlled the breathing and was okay. When adrenaline injection went in felt flushed and tightness across chest, but was not ‘stressed out’, thanks everyone for supporting me, really helped.
Should get results in a week or so.
Xx🤞
Hi!What diagnosis is suspected?
