What sort of heart problem do I have then?!

I had a heart attack 4-years ago, and had a stent inserted in my right artery. Cardio-rehab helped me back to my normal life (and better than ever before).

A year later I had an A&E admission due to a sudden AF: cardio-versioning failed and I joined the bisoprolol club.

Two weeks ago I had another ride in an ambulance with a fast AF; 12-hours of more bisoprolol and I was back home with aspirin replaced with rivaroxaban.

So, I'm wondering what category this places me in? Where am I in the scheme of things? How do I describe my condition in technical terms?

I need to know because I am going to have to research and manage this myself: unfortunately the referral letter on discharge from A&E never reached Cardiology, so my GP and I have to start from scratch before I can get a follow-up with a consultant, let alone the 24-hour ECG that I was told I needed, (presumably to diagnose my condition).

I trust the experience and expertise here more than Dr Google.

Hi, Not sure what the future holds for you and me but I can share my experience, I had a HA just before Christmas, stents fitted to left artery, sent home and now taking the following:Bisoprolol, Aspirin, Ticagrelor, Atorvastatin, Omeprazole Ramipril

I was given a copy of my ECG as a reference point for the future and I am told my doctor will re assess my meds within one year, I have to keep reminding myself that it could have been a lot worse!

BTW I bought a blood pressure monitor for home use just to give some re assurance

Look after yourself and I hope you get your meds sorted 😊

Hi, as for a category my personal opinion would be you have atrial fibrillation. Not paroxysmal I'd say as I think the previous stent and possible MI could be causing it? Just a thought on my behalf. Are you in AF permanently or occasionally?

Best regards

I've only had 2 AF events since my heart attack 4 years ago, I have occasional arrhythmia, so I'm very fortunate compared to most people here. I'd just like an actual diagnosis, but that's not going to happen until I get an ECG.
