I wonder if anyone has any experience with this? I apologise in advance for the length of the post, I will try to keep it as short as possible.
I am awaiting a heart bypass at harefield hospital which ive been told they have cancelled all ops in January because of covid, I have been waiting three months on the 12th.
I have for quite a long while, maybe a year or more and way before heart diagnosis had trouble getting my breath when sitting, only when sitting. When im in bed im fine, when im active im fine but when im sitting watching tv in the evening im gasping for breath. I have done alot more sitting over christmas, I work very long hours and was hopeing to use the christmas break as a rest before op, I do get breathless and angina if I do too much but this is different.
Its like being in a spaceship that has a leak and the oxygen levels in the room are slowly getting less and less.
I spoke to the lovely nurse at Harefield who suggested it could be the Bisoprolol (2.5mg in the morning) so to cut it down to 1.25mg but after a couple of days that hasnt made any difference, im worried about cutting the dose as this sounds like an important drug when ive googled it?
This has got much much worse in the last few months.
So would anyone have had similar experience please? Is this normal for a blocked artery?

Sorry I should add I have just had a lung function test which they said was fine, I have no weazing, the doctor gave me a blue astma pump to try but that makes no difference. Even when I feel like im sofocating I can draw deep breaths.
Thankyou so much, I have no tried raising legs but will do that right now, I should say if I am str8ggling to breath, sitting on the edge of the sofa does help, so adjusting posture obviously, but after 10 minutes this becomes super uncomfortable. I will report back raising legs, Thankyou!
wbiC - that is an excellent reply. I too wondered about the "When im in bed im fine, when im active im fine" as this would rule out a lung problem, more a circulation problem. I would look into a SPO meter (blood oxygen) to monitor and keeping legs elevated. Also try some breathing techniques (lots on the internet) and try not to sit hunched over, but I cant add anything else to what has been so well said.
Hi, Sounds more like you don’t have enough oxygenated blood going round, get those feet up if lying down seems to help. Do you have a recliner chair? Invest in a pulse oximeter so you can check your oxygen levels and keep a record.
Hopefully you will get your op very soon, i’m 13 weeks post op and 4 post second op and now waiting for third.
Hi.My partner had his double heart bypass 7 weeks ago now. He had waited just over a year for his op. And in the time waiting, he would often get breathless for no reason at all (sitting watching TV)
This has now settled alot since his op, though it has happened once or twice.
We found it very difficult to get an appointment for any answers to the reason why. When I phoned 111 they sent him for a covid test because of him being breathless. Trying to explain to them that this wasn't needed and that I thought it was his heart causing him to be breathless seemed to fall on deaf ears. The answer they gave was to phone an ambulance if we were worried. We appreciate everything the NHS are doing but in these times it can be frustrating trying to get answers when all appointments that you had have been cancelled / or done over phone. Take care.
Hi, everytime ive asked doctor/nurses etc, thy all check my lungs and say they are clear, I had a telephone appointment the other day and docor said to go to A&E which I dont think I need to, thats why reading your post is so very good to read (if you know what I mean, not wanting anyone to be going through This)
You are so bang on the money, lungs feel fine and clear, I bought an oxygen thingy from amazon that is reading betwenn 92 and 97, this also meausres my pulse which is between 49 and 55 at rest, it goes higher when I move around, this low pulse is what made me think it was the bisoprolol as apparently that can lower pulse.
I think you are right about the oxygen, my wife suggested this but to be honest sounded extreme when she said it, now youve also said it, I will suggest it to doctor.
Yes I am fat, although im a very big person, like a brick shed, tall and wide but definately cultivated my belly fat last few years, I have been trying to lose some weight recently but had no success, maybe its time to try harder.
I have pushed a large poofee in front of my sofa, legs raised is definately better!
Stress? I was so happy to be having op early Jan because it meant I didnt have to return to work, now I have to go back on the 11th, I will just have to try and now let it stress me out.
Thats some great ideas thanks, I actually am very careful what I eat due to insulin injections, my problem is I ran, I ran alot, last marathon 2014, figured id have 2 weeks off but since stretched that to 6 years, now i couldnt run a bath, unfortunately I maintain my marathon appetite hehe

Your suggestion of oxygenating the whole room rather than using the prescribed delivery method of a nasal cannula, face mask or connected to a breathing tube in your neck is not recommended.
Who have you been speaking to? Yes I am guilty of snapping and flying off the handle, I do believe this is due to be surrounded by imbeciles lol, I always say I have a very low tolerance for stupid, this along with being in a construction enviroment means alot of shouting (and swearing) at the least excuse, what you said really makes so much sense, could losing it for five minutes actually damage my heart? Could frustration do damage? I deal with the general public all day (customers) who could generally make saints swear, biting my lip and holding in the (kill em all) voices is a constant state, I never considered this was the cause. i always assumed it was the takeaways and smoking.
I am going give this alot of thought and try very hard to change.
