Me

Hi all, had triple bypass 14 months ago,3 days days ago got this really bad pain across my chest right to left, at the time i thought i pulled a muscle.

Its hard to take deep breaths, without pain, yesterday I went for a walk and when I walk up a slight hill I could not breathe properly, later that night it got worse, so I had to take a couple of puffs of my angina spray "which I have never used before"

It seemed to lessen the pain, but could not sleep last night, because the pain back.

My wife says I should call the GP, but feel really fobbed off with them at the the moment, I have never had any contact for 12 months Re- my triple bypass .

Anyone with any suggestions

Thanks

Hello :-)

I am not an expert in all this but from what you have said I would just not leave it you sound like you need to be checked over

I get how you feel the Doctors do not care so much as I am finding that at the moment and if you feel your Doctors will fob you of you could always call 111 and ask for advise or even go to A&E to be checked over but I would not just leave it , possibly there is nothing wrong but still get it checked out :-) x

Hi

Like you had a bypass 14 months ago that followed a heart attack which was a complete shock. Despite a solid recovery and sticking to a good diet and exercise I have found having odd sensations, soreness and inexplicable chest aches disconcerting to say the least. What I have done is simply get myself down to A&E when I have an episode. They do an ECG, measure BP and take bloods (twice to check tropinin levels) and determine whether you have had an event or not.

Every time I have been sent home with the all clear - got to be at least 4x now. I do not feel I am putting anyone out by doing this and every time they say that I must go to A&E and avoid trying to guess. They do not have a problem with it. Yes Covid is putting the system under a lot of pressure but they are there especially for heart patients. May I suggest you go to A&E to put your mind at rest?

I think you should ring 111 for your own peace of mind otherwise you will be stressed out worrying about what it could be and it will just make the symptoms worse

With chest pain like that I would either go straight to Urgent Car or A&E or call an ambulance. If you ring 111 and they hear "chest pain they would send an ambulance for paramedics to check you out.

Hi guysThanks fo your input and concerns, to let you know I went to A&E and they wanted to keep me in stating that I had crackling in my lungs also my heart was not pumping enough oxygen, so they wanted to do a heart scan and couldn't do it until Tuesday, because of the holidays.

This is the new year and I have never been apart from my wife for 40 years on New years eve .

The junior cardiologist advised me to stay as there could be consequences and told me to contact my GP on Tuesday and ask them if they can refer me to a Cardiologist, if I went Home.

So home I went, and had me thinking that, they can't give me a scan until after the holidays

so why should I stay and take up bed space, for some other patient.

Everything stops for the holidays in the Glasgow Royal "PATHETIC"
