Not sure if this will help. I don’t suffer panic attacks but do use ‘guided’ breathing to regulate my body when I recognise I have elevated HR and it does bring me back to a very calm state very quickly (within 2 mins). I am told this is good practice anyway as a general rule so try to do this (whenever I remember). Most smart watches can help with guided breathing exercises if you have one... good luck.
Sorry to hear that . They are a terrible experience . You have to have had them to realise how bad they are . My bisoprolol withdrawal was one long panic attack . I haven’t found a magic bullet but there is a very good website called It’s Just a Feeling in uk which has very helpful advice . If it’s very bad the best thing I found was to phone a friend that seemed to break the spell just chatting about normal things . If not quite so bad listen to an audio book takes the focus out of your head . Try and carry on with what you were doing and let it rage around you is the advice . Try and focus on something else easier said than done I know but panic thrives on attention x
Thank you for the advice. I truly appreciate it. I will certainly make a note ofthings. It’s always good to know there are people out there who actually
understand, because they are going through it themselves.Thank you.
They are common but a lot of people won’t talk about it. And it is part of panics strategy because it isolates you if you don’t tell anyone . I have a couple of close friends who would always “talk me off the ledge “ Try and identify the features of your panic so when you feel the symptoms you can say to yourself “ yes I know what’s happening I don’t want to bother with you just now “ what Claire Weekes would call not adding second fear . You take care of yourself
Thank you so much. I am now doing mindfulness. I hope this will help. Also I practise yoga and do a half hours walk daily. But sometimes
something will just tip you over the edge and the thoughts start to
creep in and then the panic. I am such a pessimist and this of course
doesn’t help. Thank you again for your advice and kind words.
Good evening lovefrance, you have my sympathy, I suffer from panic attacks regularly and they are very scary mine can last a long time, I find that watching some of the calming/sleep/audiobook videos on youtube can be very helpful, my favourites are the train journeys, there`s something hypnotic about the click-clack of the rails, you may find something on there that suits yourself, give it a try, good luck and a merry Christmas to you.
I will certainly try this. Something I haven’t thought of before. Thank you so much and I hope you have a good Christmas too.
Hi again lovefrance, How are you coping after yesterday's panic attack?,I hope you've found some relief by now and that you're feeling a bit better, good luck.
Thank you. I am feeling better today. I am always struggling with anxiety and panic. I suffer with atrial fibrillation, hence the reason for the worry. I try hard to control it with yoga and walking but if I am having a bad day, of course the anxiety kicks in. But your advice is
something I am going to try. Anything to take ones mind off it.
Thank you so much for caring. I truly appreciate it.
Hi lovefrance, I just thought that I would drop you a quick line and ask how you are coping with your anxiety and if you had a calm Christmas.
Hi a35 Austin. I am coping at the moment and have had a good Christmas. Although my mind is constantly telling me all is not goodand if I don’t do this or that, something awful will happen. I know this
is ocd and have had counselling for it, but of course it all comes back
to my heart anxiety. I am keeping myself active by doing a half hour walk round my garden and yoga on a daily basis. I sympathise with you, when they last so long. I do hope you too have had a good
Christmas and thank you so much for asking after me. I feel I have
a friend who really knows what it’s like to feel this way. Thank you
again .
