Brain fog and not being able to shut up

Hi, I'm in the 5 stents club following a HA last year.

My memory is now like Swiss cheese. I get brain fog all of the time and I don't seem to be able to shut up when I need to.

Has anyone else experienced similar?

Hi. I haven’t had a HA. however when i was on beta blockers & channel blockers they completely changed me. I had awful brain fog, could barely string a sentence together, had no compassion for anyone and said and thought some horrible things. After a while i couldn’t cope with anything, it got so bad I realised it was the meds and came off them for an alternative.

I’m now back to ‘normal’, grumpy at times and forgetful sometimes but back to reasonable limits.

Speak to your doctor about meds and see if there’s anything that could be causing it. Some meds say depression but sometimes it’s more than that.

Brain fog yes indeed. Do you recall the bad old days of pea soupers. Well thats what goes in place of where my brain used to live.I find keeping calm and accepting the consequences will slightly ease the problem. Memory. Yes indeed, gone walkabouts. It does ease over the months. So erratic. Sometimes its there other times its gone. I do enjoy a few very old memories that are churned to the surface. No point in trying to force memory to work, that just makes it worse. I am looking forward to the days when we are free of covid restrictions. All those friends whos name i will forget.

Again, just accept, dont force. I will say to well recognized faces thst i am sorry i cant recall your name.

Things do ease.

And there is lots of research being done, mainly for dementia but also for ME. And most of all for stroke survivors.

Best wishes

Colin
