Hi my mum had a mild heart attack a few weeks ago. She stayed in hospital for a week came home with medication and had a stent fitted. She was told she would have another on the other side but they discharged her. Now she has been called back. I gues my question is why didn't they do it all in one go and should I be worried she may not survive the procedure im getting more and more worried she is 75 and seems to be doing very well im unsure why she is being called back.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I don't think any of us will be able to give an answer with any certainty, the best thing is to ring the PA to the consultant and ask them why you mother wasn't fixed the first time.As for the procedure, try not to worry, having a stent, frightening through it may all sound is a very commonplace procedure which is minimally invasive. Here's an explanation from the BHF on the procedure - link below:-

Hi, it’s easy to say I know but I wouldn’t be too worried about your mum having another stent. I had a mild heart attack with a stent and the procedure is very quick and painless but you will know that from her previous stent. I am not qualified to say why they want her to go back for the 2 nd stent but it’s possible it’s simply because they didn’t want to put her through to much after the heart attack. There is obviously no urgency with the next stent for them to have left it. Try not to worry as the procedure itself is very minimal however it may sound .

When my husband had his first massive heart attack in January 2019 they immediately stented him but there was another artery that needed doing and he was called back to do that one four weeks later. They said that during ha they only do the one that’s causing the heart attack and do the other at a less riskier time.

I agree with the comments so far. I had a couple of stents on the right side at the time of my HA. While I was in hospital I was told that I needed some work to the arteries on the left side which was subsequently undertaken.

I had 2 on one side and was told I needed 2 on the other side later. The reason I couldn't have them all at once was because I might not have survived the treatment at the time. Might not be the same for your mum though.
