Gtn spray wipes me out...

Hi,

I'm having to use my Gtn spray quite often. I'm finding that after particularly bad attacks, I'm pretty wiped out for the day after. Is this normal?

I'm waiting an mri scan as the specialist thinks there isn't enough blood getting through to my heart. I've had 5 stents to date...

Yes, it wipes me out, too, afterwards. But it does the job at the time. It sounds as if you are getting good attention. They’ll get to the bottom of it!

Rather than GTN spray I was put on anti-anginals. These prevent angina up to a point but not if you push to far!

Anti-anginals are taken once or more per day. The common ones are nitrates, e.g. Isosorbide Mononitrate, or CCIs (Calcium Channel Inhibitors), e.g. Diltiazem. I was on both at one stage. They may need a week to ten days to get through the initial mild side effects (headache and/or dizziness) but you then avoid the spray's "blow yer brains" effect!
