My mum thru october has been blue lighted x5 times for suspected heart attack... after hours at hospital gets discharged told all different things.

First two times was TIA (been confirmed)

Last one was told blood clot on lung (to which now been told doesn’t have)

(Thru all the visits been told heart is fine) (Altho one ECG showed up which why she was told heart attack was happening)

They was to refer mum to cardiology but they didn’t and now we got to wait a further 2 weeks for any form of help, she’s lost weight, minute she walks to the loo or out of bed to the sofa her heart pounds!

She’s being treated for high blood pressure but even with these tablets all these attacks still happened at one point the blood pressure just wouldn’t come down pulse also over 110.

Thru her attacks her symptoms are...

dull ache heavy feeling in right arm, High blood pressure, High pulse, Pounding of the heart, nausea, lightheaded, dizziness, shivers, odd occasion became clammy but was cold.

Can anyone possibly advise what this could be amd ways I can help her until hospital see her?

I thought possibly angina but I really have no clue!

She’s feeling really depressed due to not being able to do anything, she’s also extremely scared!

Any guidance would be really appreciated.

Welcome, hope this helps: the following link to the contact details page for the BHF Heart Helpline nurses might be just what you need the now - give them a try. Nearly everyone who has contacted them has had nothing but good to say about the help they received from the cardiac nurses who staff the phone-chat-email lines. And please keep us updated on how you go on.

Hi Sunnis2day Update on mum since the post where you forwarded web for the nurses (which I have to say have been amazing!! Thank you)

On couple more occasions but was becoming more poorly to the point we could not control her pulse (racing going way above 130 just walking to the loo or even sitting.)

After speaking with nurses on the site you recommended me they were amazing at advising how to help get mum the help. We managed to now get her beta blockers and a 24 hour tape before Xmas we are awaiting a scan and diagnosis now.

Another worry has cropped up which I’ve noticed since having a Fitbit my pulse has been going so high I’m 32 and tbh suffer anxiety which I put it down to and the stress and worry for mum as it’s heart breaking seeing her suffer, I’m now alittle scared.

Only sign I get is I feel light headed I check the pulse and that’s when I notice it’s shot up doing a simple task of walking up stairs ...

Anyways wanted to update you in regards to the site. Honestly the best recommendation. Can’t thank you enough!

Thank-you for updating - and the review of your experience with the fabulous BHF Heart Helpline nurses! Hopefully your mother will see a return to good heart health in 2021 - and you as well, your symptoms should be reported to your GP as soon as possible.

Everyone is different but symptoms like yours could be anything from a reaction to the stress of what you're going through with your mum to something more physical - only the medics can make that determination so I hope you contact your GP about your symptoms.

Please keep updating on your mother - and you:)
