A year on from open - heart surgery(mitral valve replacement) I'm getting soreness near the top of my sternum.

About to move house and lifting a lot. Could this have caused injury?

The short answer is possibly, it takes a long time for the sternum to regain it's full strength. Get someone in to do the heavy lifting, spend some money, stand back and supervise. It is hard to do but you are more likely to arrive with your furniture in one piece along with your breast bone.
