I understand that blood pressure goes up and down throughout the day depending on what we are doing, also that when we are asked to monitor our bp we are told to sit still for a few minutes, not move, be relaxed etc so that the reading shows our bp at rest. My question is, does it not matter then how high it gets at other times ? I have anxiety spikes throughout the day which inevitably makes my bp go up too, is this ok ?

Hello mine goes up when I'm stressed but once at doctors it was slightly higher than usual I don't know much about it but lately I feel I'm a bit giddy on couple times I was told it's a mild panic attack I think you should go to doctors and he will put a 24 hour monitor on someone on positive wellbeing is having this same problem and she has to have it monitored but had to wait a week and have a ECG you mustn't ignore this as it could be serious I know caffeine can cause it too but as we get older were at risk of heart problems it can lead to diabetics too my nebour has blood pressure he drinks a lot smoking doesn't help either if it's too high I think he will act fast and put you on meds straight away hope you get sorted 🤗🌈
Hi Curly1_ I have been on bp meds for many years and only monitor my bp when I am due for an annual review, it just occured to me that all the advice is to relax before you test your bp, and not when you feeling stressed for example, you are right I will ask for a 24 hr monitor, although when I mentioned to the dr that I get anxiety attacks all he said was " Don't worry about that lots of people get that " so not sure he will be sympathetic ! Hello dahlialover. I’m afraid I have no answers, but I am very intrigued by your question I am very surprised how little information I can find about this. For instance we know that as we exercise, generally our BP will increase. However how do we determine what is safe level for each individual, and at what level would it become potentially dangerous. Can our bodies tolerate higher BP as we get fitter for instance. I am hoping you get a host of answers to help on this subject.
Hi Mikedabike, thank you for your reply, you are right there doesn't seem to be much, if anything out there that answers my question, I am due to report back to the dr with progress of monitoring my bp on the new meds, I will ask him what he thinks, I know we are supposed to excercise even if we have high bp, but whether excercise and anxiety rises in bp have the same affect on us I will have to ask that too, thank you for your reply.
