New HFpEF diagnosis

Hi, I’ve just been diagnosed with HFpEF ( heart failure with preserved ejection fraction) and I was seen by a private cardiologist. I presented in clinic with swollen feet, legs and ankles and breathlessness when going up stairs. I also had a slightly raised BNP blood level. I have been prescribed Furosemide and I was already taking Ramipril for CKD. The cardiologist said that he didn’t need to see me again unless I had any concerns. I have looked up the nice guidelines for this condition and it says that I should be referred to a heart failure clinic for support and long term monitoring. Is anyone else with this condition attending a clinic? It’s all very scary and I feel like I need some support with understanding this diagnosis. Thanks.

Hi there,I also have heart failure and was referred to heart failure clinic,After about 6 apts at the clinic I was then told I didn't need to attend anymore. Now it's just twice yearly blood tests done by the practice nurse.Worth asking your surgery or cardiologist for a referral.Take care and hope you get that apt

Funny never heard of this until yesterday, only found out by asking the doctor what my problems were to get travel insurance, in my 80’s ,have AF,high blood pressure and had TIA 3 years ago. No even sure how long I’ve had it.Tried to put symptoms in travel form and not even there, so not sure whether I can go abroad or not.
