So I had a call yesterday telling my operation was cancelled due to problems with admissions and beds. I was just leaving my home to go to Liverpool heart and chest for my Covid swab. Disappointed wasn't the word.
So unpacked car, made a coffee and sat down to watch Great British Bake Off, I dont like cakes, but love baking shows. Odd, I know. 20 minutes later, my phone goes, um we might be able to operate can you go for covid swab please and we will let you know later today if we can. So repack car and off I trundle to Liverpool.
Covid swab done and went to my sisters, as staying there after operation. No phone call came but had a lovely chicken casserole for tea.
I called this morning and operation is going ahead, thank goodness. So nerves have calmed down i think and now ready for being admitted tomorrow.
Thank you for the supportive messages when I first posted

Hi Tammy. Wow, so up and down; must be doing your head in! Fingers crossed and take care. Hope it all goes ahead smoothly and you're out the other side in short order.
Just wanted to wish you good luck, you will soon be travelling on the mended heart road. The on off on again must be stringing out your nerves😩 but you will be fine.
I will certainly have you in my thoughts and prayers.
I beg your pardon! My nurse recently went in and out my room 6 times and only washed hands 3 times without prompting. Was a simple piece of advice as some people might be scared to speak up. This is supposed to be a supportive forum not a forum to put people down. I wish Henry all the very best.
It must seem an unpleasant roller coaster ride just now but hopefully you'll have your op on schedule and in a few weeks it will be a distant(ish) memory. Please keep us updated on how you get on.
So glad for you, after all that, and hope it all goes well. Nobody's fault, I know, but all that tension of will it won't it happen is the worst part - going in is a relief in the end. Let everyone know how you get on.
You have my commiserations over this. My bypass and AVR was cancelled 4 times, the last one I was all ready to go down to theatre and I waited and waited and waited and eventually was told it had been cancelled due to an emergency. All over and done with with now and recovery started. Best of luck with yours
Hi Tammy, pleased to hear that. You will be fine, at 7 months post AVR I am fitter than I have been for years. Good luck and remember these amazing surgeons do this all the time. x
Good luck Tammy, hope all goes well with the op and you make as quick a recovery as possible. I find earplugs and an eye mask helps with the sleeping in hospital once the initial meds ease off.
Thank you all so much for your kind words. At 4pm today my operation got cancelled. Im not angry as its due to people who are not well enough to leave so not enough intensive care beds but I am dissapointed and frustrated. So many emotions in my mind and work seem to want to know when I'm coming back which feels like its adding the stress on. Hey ho, fingers crossed its good news on Monday x
So sorry, only just scrolled down to the bottom. My op was cancelled 3 days before and I was gutted. I can't imagine how frustrated you must be feeling after this on, of,f on, then off again senario. Even though we know they only cancel in the event of greater need the emotional fallout is distressing. Fingers crossed that the op happens for you soon and you can move forward with your new life.
