ICD ... 4 days post op

jmpond90gmailcom profile image

Afternoon all,

Look away now if your squeamish🤦‍♂️♥️. This is my scar. Its the 1st time I have seen it and thought I would share it with the BHF forum. I feel like it is healing nicely. I think it's also good to log my recovery and experience. Also today is the first day I've been out of the house since op and managed a 30 minute walk. Feeling good. Mood was awful last night so making the most of today's good mood.

Jim ♥️x

Thanks Char

Its 40 days ( not that im counting or setting myself some targets ) exactly till I become a Husband and marry my Hero, best friend and the woman who saved my life, metaphorically and literally. Without her in my life, I can say with a great deal of confidence that I would not be here today typing this, sharing my Heart Failure journey with all the Hearties here. I owe my life to my Fiancee and can't wait to have the honour of calling her my Wife.

Ball and chain comes to mind as well...

Another story altogether that though

😉♥️

I am blessed to be able to spend my days with her and look forward to making many more memories together

Looks neat, I had an S-ICD implanted last year so bigger scar and device but don't even know it is there now. My wife and I were also married on 28th November (2010). Best of luck!

Thanks!Wow! Chances of that hey?! Same dodgy ticker? Same wedding day? A small world indeed! Excuse my ignorance but could you tell me what an S-ICD is?

Thanks in advance

Jim

The device goes under the left arm and it has a single lead under the skin. Because the lead does not connect to the heart muscle, the device is a bit bigger. I consider myself very fortunate to have my little mate watching over me. Take care.

That sounds like a good bit of kit. You should feel fortunate. Mines prophylactic so seems like a lot of pain for no gain right now. I know it's short term pain for long term gain though and am also lucky and privileged to have one. Will try and look after it and hope I dont need it

Wow that looks good and much smaller than I expected. Just one end to keep an eye on. Take it steady and have a lovely wedding

Thanks.

Was also expecting bigger!

In fact, I'm not sure how hes actually fit it in there!

Enough of the double entendre's which were totally coincidental to ensure all doubt is removed!

PS will also keep an eye on me End😬🤨😏😉

Oh dear...

Thank you!

Hi it disappears quite quickly especially as it’s stuck and not stitched. Mine is just over 2 years old and you can hardly see it. Good luck with the walking , 30 mins is good stuff, keep it up and I assure you it does get easier

Your scar really does look as though it's healing well, very neat. My hubby (45) has just found out they want to upgrade his maker to an ICD and we were feeling pretty anxious about things. You sound so upbeat, you have really helped us!

Take care, carry on walking (slowly though) and have a fantastic wedding.

Hi.

Thank you. Also glad to hear that I have been able to help you and your husband at a very difficult time.

I am lucky to be here to tell the tale of my recovery and to know I am helping others also helps me recover.

I am looking at what has happened to me as a second chance. Before my heart attack I saw myself as a cup half empty type of person. Since my heart attack my cup is certainly half full.

Fortunate to have a cup to fill and empty really.

Its definately not always like this. I am having an awful time dealing with it.

I lay in ambulance on 2nd August 2020 in a lay by in Northumberland on the 2nd day of my Holiday not having a clue what was wrong.

The Paramedic told me I was having a heart attack. I instantly felt alone and thought I was about to die. Alone. Never see my kids, friends, family again. I asked him if I was going to die. He said 20 years ago, yes. Today, no.

I didn't believe him. Hes been right so far though.

I owe it to everyone who has helped me so far to make the best of my second chance

Talking to others certainly helps me too.

I hope things get better for you and your Husband. He is very lucky to have you to help him on his journey.

If you ever need anything please ask and I will try and help the best I can.
