Morning,

So im living with an ICD now. Very early days for sure. Some pain to manage. Sure it will pass. Still not sure on a name.

Dennis the Defib is favourite at the mo. Dennis after my cardiologist who installed in.

Itching to heal so I can get back into the world. Feel like I've been on pause since my HA 2.8.2020

Attached a pic of my icd card. Not sure what a lot of it means if anyone can help?

Hi glad to hear it all went well, it won't be too long before you forget its there 👍Denis sounds good to me 😀 I can't help with the icd card, I never have a clue what all these medical terms mean, I will say don't be like char and leave it at the airport🙄, it took me months phoning two hospitals to get a replacement, and in between times glares from security and shouts of where is your paperwork were not good, I took to showing my scar oh dear 😅✈, I so wished I had got a photocopy,I got four when I eventually got my replacement 👍wishing you a speedy recovery take care and keep us posted, char

Good luck with that. Where you retaining fluid in your legs that led them to insert the ICD?

Hi. The ICD is to keep me alive as I have heart failure. If my heart starts pacing irregularly my ICD will try and pace it correctly. If my heart stops the ICD will shock it to restart it.

My cardiologist advised me to have it 12 days ago after seeing the result of my MRI. EF 30%. I had a colluded LAD which caused severe damage to my heart muscle and my LV. I have another blocked artery that leads to dead muscle in my heart.

It's my mobile paramedic and an insurance policy for the future.

To the best of my knowledge im not retaining excess fluid and take eplerenone daily to prevent that

Hi thank you for asking. I think im getting there. 3 years is a while to be waiting. I wasnt given much time really. I think it's been about 11 weeks since HA to ICD being fitted. My cardiologist gave me 10 days notice of my implant. He previously told me he wouldn't put one in if he didn't think I needed it but my MRI results, in his opinion, suggested I did. So now I have one. It's like having an ambulance or paramedic with me 24/7. That's how I think of it. I guess it's a personal choice as to whether you have one or not.

I hope you make the right decision for you

Keep us posted

I see. That makes sense now. Thought it was a long time! I didn't feel like I had any symptoms. Obviously lots of damage though.

Good luck with your recovery
