Recovery update. Today I have my ICD fitted. I'm having 2 leads. I found out 10 days ago that this was the next stage of recovery for me. I would be lying if I said these last 10 days were not some of my hardest days so far.
I thought i owed my fellow Hearties the benefit of an update.
A few questions, anyone named their ICD? I have read that some people do. My favourite so far is Thumper! Would be good to hear a few if you have. All suggestions welcome!
Any advice, for living with ICD?
Particularly keen to learn about the next few days recovery.
Hopefully see you guys on the other side of my OP.

Hi I got my icd just before Christmas, I named it Gabriel my guardian angel, which it turned out to be, just be careful lifting arms up too high or lifting anything too heavy, I think that was all, they will give you a does and don'ts booklet, once the initial soreness wore off and it settled in, I hardly noticed it at all, the scar faded and you couldn't even notice it,I am sure it will go well, take care and keep us posted char
I guess you’re all done by now! A little sore no doubt, but that will pass quickly and if your experience is anything like mine you’ll soon forget it’s there. Is your 2 lead device a CRT-D? I’ve heard good things about their positive effect on EF.
Sorry to hear you’ve had a tough 10 days. I’ve mentioned in a previous post how I felt that accepting an ICD felt like a big step and a concession to my ‘condition’, but I’m well over that now. If anything, it’s taken away a lot of anxiety I didn’t realise I had.
Yes home now and very sore. I don't think it's crtd. The two wires are both on the right hand side of my heart but that's about all I know at the moment
