Sinus Tachycardia

Hi Newbie Here,

I've been diagnosed with the above (heart gets very excited at the slightest thing - even ironing!!!), won't bore you all with the back story but local hosp won't offer me any other treatment other than drugs which make me feel extremely sea sick. Bought myself a Kardia Monitor and since I got it in June I have had 3 episodes of possible Afib. Now part of me says go back to docs and make a fuss but another part of me says its only possible Afib leave and try and get a few more. I don't want to be THAT patient who is constantly moaning but as a friend pointed out it is your heart. Just need some advice from strangers who may have been in the same position. Thank you in advance.

Did you try with beta blockers?

Hi vinixxx, yes, they were the first I tried and they did absolutely nothing for my heart rate but they made my blood pressure spot on. Blood pressure was never really that high to start with.

If you have no trouble exercising, or other symptoms, this drug is the only one suitable for you.

Btw- back story could be useful info often.

I struggle to exercise, everything I do that involves the slightest exertion my heart goes into overdrive. When my heart starts its thing I usually have palpitations, shortness of breath and depending on how long it lasts I start to sweat. Eating can cause me a problem too, eating our sunday meal which was homemade bolognaise (very nice it was too) my heart got up to 140bpm.

Now is more clear.

What examinations did you pass?

I have had a holter monitor for three days, tilt/table test, some sort of scan of heart and they were ok. Also tested for a kidney disorder which I haven't got, Thyroid is ok also. I was so unhappy with treatment by local hosp (I never actually got to see a cardiologist always the nurses) I paid to see a private cardiologist and he said it was Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia but local hosp not having any of it because average daily heart rate is lower than 100bpm (also have slow heart beats too usually between 45-30bpm).

Tilt table test was my initial idea, but you already have this.

You may ask you cardiologist about beta blocker which doesn't affect blood pressure, but lower bpm.
