Power cuts 🙄

Power cuts galore here in the swamps of Norfolk, candles lit, phone etc charging while there’s electric, lucky had a few Yankee candles left over so it smells really nice.

It would be relaxing if it wasn’t for the Lashing rain and high wind blasting around outside.😳

I think it would if I didn’t hear things lumping around outside, candles are lovely to relax with, annoyed I used my posh ones as I couldn’t find my power cut candles 🕯

Same here, been off for nearly 8 hours now but feeling really sorry for the poor chaps out there trying to get our power back on.

Candles lit and camp stove retrieved from loft so soup for tea

What do I miss most ? My WiFi connection ☺️

Stay safe

We've had two long power cuts in the past 2 weeks- not weather related b ut lack of maintenance. I've been shocked how qickly candles burn down these days. Both were at night and I couldn't use my stair lift to get to bed or our electrically operated toilet. And the Government wants to get rid of all other fuels and rely 100% on electricity?????

Hi

My Grandson of 5 years told me on the phone last night the wind and rain had taken over in Norfolk and it was crazy.

Hope its better today

Hi Rose54

Yes it has calmed down quite a bit, woke up to our fence down roads with branches on the roads, plants snapped 🙄 I let my dog out first thing while it was still dark, thought she’d been ages, I was aware the fence was down then, so she’d taken herself for a wonder 🤭 having a lovely time while I was out with the torch in my dressing gown, oh it all happens here 😆

Oh well, at least the fog did not roll in and the Zombies advance! 😱

Fluffybee profile image
Fluffybee in reply to MichaelJH

Oh there be fog the other day cross the maaaarrrses but no zombies, thought one caught my eye as I walked past the mirror but must’ve been seeing things 😂😂

My attempt to write a Norfolk accent at the beginning 🤭🤭

How are you getting on ?

Blimey it looks just like ‘living dead’ !!!!!!! I don’t live anywhere near there thank goodness !! I’ve got my own creepy shed 🤭 anyway, trust you to find that in the news !!!!!!!!! 🙄

MichaelJH profile image

Hemsby is weird! I holidayed there decades ago in our hardware man's caravan. Quite a few caravan and chalet parks back then. I drove through about ten years ago after a day at the races and it seemed a sea (pun not intended) of holiday parks and fish 'n' chip and burger outlets.

BTW some of the Zombies pop group are alumni of my old school. Someone once put up a sign outside "For Sale To Include Old Masters"! 🤣🤣🤣

I went to London a few years back, on the way home this man in his mid 20’s said blimey are you the Roman out of living dead????? He got his friends to join in trying to find out if I was ????? I don’t know who they meant, I’ve only ever seen it a couple of time’s, obviously I didn’t look great that night 😱😱

Fluffybee in reply to MichaelJH

You’ve a lovely view of Norfolk, there’s really lovely places here rather than zombie land, old wrecked parks, sea of caravans 😂😂 mind you it will keep people away with this virus 😳

I used to go to the races occasionally but regularly to the stock car races as I was a race mechanic to three drivers. One towed with a V8 limousine - many people didn't realise how quick it could go! 😁

Are you a Norfolk boy ???

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply to Fluffybee

No, Hertfordshire born and bred. Of all the counties in the UK I have probably spent more free time in Norfolk than any other. One favourite spot is Westcliff (Edge of Southend) where you can have fantastic fish 'n' chips looking out to sea in one of the many cafés but it's not going to happen in 2020! ☹️

Keith Skues who is presents his last radio show tomorrow evening. He has broadcast for 60 years including Forces radio, pirate radio, national and local radio. He's on all the local radio stations in the East of England. Should be an interesting show..

My walking rehab is now limited to strength and flexability exercises as the temporary leg developed a puncture on Thursday and there is no spare. I finished my walk listing heavily to port. This never happened to Long John Silver! 🤣🤣🤣

And there's no spare with puncture repairs failing! ☹️

Ah but Long John Silver had a parrot on the other shoulder to balance things out. Ruth

I howled when I read Stillabovegrounds comment, was having mental pictures of you, the leg and the parrot. Monty Python material or what!😂😂

I used to have a big ginger tomcat who would sit on my shoulder when I walked around the house. He had a habit of jumping on it from the top of a wardrobe or door. No other cats were allowed in his area but strangely he did allow one other tom and they used to lay in the sun about 6" to 12" apart!

Since husband had his stroke as developed a sweet tooth so this way I can cut the sugar down and he never notices😉 so nice egg custard pie and a banana bread should see him through next week 😂 enjoy your walk, I have walked a lot baking or so Fitbit says!

I love apple turnovers, usually lidl, I can't bake, pastry is such a skill, one I def don't have, it's funny since the transplant I have had a horrible taste in my mouth with the meds but sweet things are fine, I have been eating far too much of them 😀😋enjoy char

I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, prefer savoury my mother was a pastry cook at ICI so learnt from her cold hands makes the best pastry she used to say😉

gladliz profile image
gladliz in reply to 080311

These days I should be able to make fantastic pastry as my hands are always freezing. Think it's due to the meds I'm on, feet are cold as well.☺

Now I am the opposite since my surgery my feet are always warm I am always saying while I was on bypass they altered my thermostat. I live in Scotland and don’t feel the cold, it’s my husband who now says put the heating on.
