Heart spasm

I went to the ER 3 days ago and they ran tests to see if I had a heart attack and I thought I was having a heart attack or stroke. When I went into the ER I was having vertigo for 10 days. Before I went to the ER and my arm was feeling numb but my vertigo was leaving it was like 5% The day I went to the ER they they ran tests they did an EKG blood test and they did a sonogram on my heart but they did not find anything. I was in irregular heartbeat where it's like my heart on my back was being different from the heart on my chest. The heart of my back was beating irregular why the heart of my chest was beating regular. This been happening for 2 months. This was happening the majority of the time I was there and my heart spasm 2 or three times. Has anyone dealt with the heart spasm with no pain? I researched online and on this website and a lot of people have spasms but they have pain some people have coronary artery spasms do some people have microvascular angina has anyone else dealt with this?

Hi, there is a fine line between being dizzy and vertigo and dizzy and cardiac. I have both( Menieres disease) it is a guessing game as to which it is?

The only difference i have is when it is my heart i can feel it thumping really hard and often skipping beats or a quick flutter. It also goes from 130-69 and this can cause me to go dizzy or not quite right as i like to say. As for CAS and angina i cannot comment but i am sure others who have will come along shortly and offer advice. take care.

Hi Boom214

I have lived with Microvascular and vasospastic angina for 8 years.

Vasospastic angina is the term now used to describe coronary artery spasms or Prinzmetal angina.

The BHF has this information about Microvascular and vasospastic angina.

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

Vasospasms whether they occur in the small or large coronary blood vessels usually causes chest pain, breathlessness and changes on an ECG along with rises in the troponin levels in the blood.

Hello Boom214. All I can do is relate my own experience. I have been diagnosed with Microvascular Angina but I'm fortunate that I don't get chest or other pain. I get out of breath when my heart is not getting enough blood supply. Different people have different responses to the same condition.

Does it feel like a muscle spasm like twitching in your heart around your heart?

I’ve been told I’ve got micro vascular angina and coronary artery spasms.

I do get quite a lot of chest heaviness and pain that also goes down my arms and sometimes my back, like today 😢

Also breathless on going upstairs or doing really mundane things like having a shower or even ironing, so need to stop and use my GTN spray for the pain as well.

I have learned now to stop not try and push through it.

I’m having a stress MRI soon to show what’s happening.

Abnormal ECG and echo, normal clear coronary arteries.

There’s quite a few people on here with the condition so should get great support and with Milkfairy putting the BHF website on, Also BHF nurse helpline.

Take care

No, not for me. I don't have coronary artery spasms as far as I know. I don't feel any pain, but I'm a bit of an outlier in the MVA community.
