Im age single female age 50 and live alone. who has under gone a heart pass bk in feb. Along side other conditions. Im diabetic and that changed to having to be insulin dependant whilst being in hospitL. Came out of hospital and had no real support at all. Covid19 started and i became high risk. So had to isolate myself even more. I live in a 2nd floor flat so was extremely difficult in first weeks out of hospital. All appointment for after care went to just phone consultations. And my local gp surgery have not supported. And my heath is not brilliant lots of things happening but not getting many answers or proper treatment. Feeling extremely scared still months after my surgery. Feel after care had and is letting me down.

Hi, I really feel for you, I presume the hospital put some kind of care plan in place for when you left? did they get the local council involved? There is always plenty of support on here for you.

Other than letter to pass to gp. And heart booklet to refer to. No. They told me at hospital i didnt fit into crytierer for home support due to only being 50. My son was not able to support as was travelling abroad. And then covid19 hit and made things worse. Along side many many other people.

Hello Dancer2759

Welcome to the forum, so sorry to read your struggling after bypass, I had Aortic valve replaced and bypass 4 years next month so didn’t have the virus to contend with, and was able to get to cardio rehab which was invaluable. Once this is up and running try and go, mine was at my local hospital so either contact where you had your bypass or your GP and see if there is a list that you can get on.

Going through open heart surgery is a major operation, and does take our body and mind to process what as happened to us. As well as that you have your diabetes to get your head round. A lot for our brains to come to terms with.

Not getting the help from your GP surgery is not acceptable, you are entitled to help even if it’s just over the phone speaking to my GP as been either by video or telephone since lockdown. Speak to your practice manager to see if they can help.

Now you are on the forum remember you are not alone there are plenty of us here that understand how you feel and just post and someone will be along to try and help.

Stay strong you are now on the mended heart road and things will improve.

Best wishes Pauline

Chase them up regarding rehab. Lockdown is slowly coming to an end and you will be able to get out for some light exercise. Do you have a treatment plan for your diabetes? If it is type 2, in 80% of cases, changes in your diet can put this into remission and improve your health dramatically.
