It will be so lovely to have him home!

I hope you will be able to have time for yourself to pause and look after yourself too.

Great news, bet you will sleep well tonight, you must feel exhausted. Remind him when he gets home to take it easy, just for a little while.

Best wishes to you both Pauline

Nice to hear had stent a year ago... so any questions feel free... first 3 months after stent is always the hardest then it gets easier... he will need group support...

tessadog profile image
tessadog in reply toSmokeAKipper

No group support due to virus your on your own apart from phone support!!! already had a stent start of May X

SmokeAKipper profile image

Group support as in us lot here ... one thing I done is I printed out the side affects of the drugs I’m on ... if he’s struggling they may need to be amended once he’s over first 2 months.. stay safe

Hi, hubby has angiogram Tuesday. Can you tell me what to expect should he have stents? I am only 4 months post AVR so a lot to deal with. Thanks, Teresa

SmokeAKipper profile image
SmokeAKipper in reply toTessie28

Ok with stents op is pretty straight forward... he will be awake as it happens... and back in ward after an hour... then they will give him blood thinners... antiplatelets... aspirin.. I was on some that started to have an affect on my emotions.. so I would recommend printing out the side affects... if he has any issues with drugs... speak to doctor... get cardiologist.. it’s takes 2 to 3 months to settles... he will get bruising... due to blood thinners... and will be tired.. so take it easy first month then start exercising slowly... but your doctor should go through all of this.. make list of questions for doctor... if you have BUPA... ring nurse for advice... one of the big problems I had was the emotionally side... and I’m not emotional... it’s the drugs ! So at some stage they may lower dosage if they affect him mentally... stay positive... avoid negative people...

Thank you, doesn't help me having the anxiety and depression, which hit me hard again following my op. So i'm one of those negative people I need to avoid!!! Luckily he is the opposite and is not worried at all. Thanks Teresa

Yah depressions a bummer... it’s probably the biggest problem ... but we’re survivors... I’ve turned vegan after my cardiologist recommended this life style and he also recommended madnesium citrate powder as post heart patients he said lack it... it helps with tiredness.... hit me up if you need to chat

Good news indeed. Hubby having angiogram Tuesday and I have everything crossed. Why did they cancel his bypass may I ask? Thanks, Teresa

tessadog in reply toTessie28

When the consultant in Leeds (He is in another hospital) looked at the images decided stents would be a better option unfortunately this took 1wk while he sat in hospital thinking he was having a bypass!!! Hope all goes well with you both X

Ah thanks for that. I'm a nervous wreck just now... he is relaxed as usual. Apart from being in afib and a bit of shortness of breath he is really well. We only found out by accident. Turned out to be a lucky accident as when I told our GP hubby was in afib he said oh don't worry we don't need to do anything! Scary times. thanks, Teresa
