As some of you might be aware, I am awaiting my second MVR (first one failed 18 months ago) but due to covid it has been delayed. I was wondering how many people experienced that weird bed (air bed) that kind of pulsates and moves in ICU/CCU? I absolutley hated it!!! I will have to remember to tell them not to use it on me. I guess the purpose is to circulate your blood/move your body? I've no idea? (I could have been completely delierious and imagined it though!)
Cheers

Long wait for you. I had second AVR last summer, also after long wait and yes, that mattress!! Weird isn't it? Its to stop you getting pressure sores. Bed moves your body in segments to relieve pressure, Were you consigned to bed for a period after surgery?
Overall how are you and lets hope you get a date soon. Keep us posted.
Thanks for that, I was just remembering some of the odd things that I vaguley thought happened after replying to someone elses post. It makes sense I suppose but I really hated it, I think it was in ICU/CCU/HDU (for about 2 days after surgery) They had problems reinflating my left lung after removing me from the ventilator and getting enough oxygen in. That left me with brain damage so my mind is a bit scrambled...ending up being 5 weeks in hospital in total. I guess it will be a long wait now, although classed as urgent, I was told unless I arrive in an ambulance I will have to wait... Every day is a struggle mentally and physically and reoccouring pericarditius doesnt help, but stiff upper lip and all that!
I hated it too, felt as if the bed was alive!! and as I was not confined to bed don't know why it was given me. I told medical staff I would sleep in chair if they didn't get me a "normal" mattress!....they did
