Dosulepin and Ischemic heart disease/stroke

l have been informed that l have to stop taking Dosulepin, been taking it for 10 years and totally mortified that my doctor could give me something which could be fatal. Found out that our government wanted it banned in 2017 and now have put a black mark against it. Has anyone had a similar earnest call to stop it?

I use to take that prior to 2010 on it a good few years. I had an accident once December 2009 landed in A & E my vital statistics were of the chart paramedics said. They wanted to know why. Got my record from GP. Was told that Dolsulepin is bad for heart I freaked out and got my GP too change it

I remember I was on a big dose 225mg I think when I was discharged Gp lowered it to 150mg. But I still wasn’t happy with that

Hi again,my GP put me on Bisoprolol fumarate because my blood pressure was raised.l am thinking now that was it the Dosulepin that caused this.l did not really question taking the Bisoprolol as my father had his first heart attack at 66 and my mother at 70.ln the end they both died from two types of cancer aged 90 and 84.

Not sure if that would affect the blood pressure when I had my accident and landed in hospital my anxiety was a bit high at the time. The hospital told the GP to monitor blood pressure It’s been 10 years since then and just recently gone on medication for raised blood pressure it was borderline 5 years ago. But it’s my heart rate at the time was higher than it should be with the tablets. I am now 70 a dit’s a miracle that I got this far without meds I now take mirtazapine 45mg. This one isn’t without problems either but cardiologists say it’s within the normal range they cause a long QT line antidepressants do tend to cause it.

Hi, can l ask if you have gained much weight now that you are taking mirtazapine and what other side effects has it had for you?

Mirtazapine gives you an appetite sure enough but I watch what I eat so for me weight not too bad. No other side effects that I know off. But if you have to come off them my GP lowered the dose two years ago but she had to put them back up again heart rate went through roof but that’s me. I am an anxious person so it was really bad then. Mirtazapine on the whole is good.
