Diazipam and codeine

Hi ime taking 5mg diazipam in morning and also have codeine and paracetamol..is this safe..I only take allowed dose of codeine

Hello and welcome to the forum! Both Diazepam and Codeine act on the central nervous system. Depending on the individual they can cause respiratory failure depending on the dose. Diazepam should only be taken with strong painkillers if prescribed. You need to check with your GP urgently if you are self medicating with Codeine. Might be worth calling 111.

Thank u..No I have taken 30 mg codeine 4 times a day and 5 mg diazipam just 1 a day

Thank you for replying..Yea I did read that it increases sedation..and also breathing probolems if taken in large doses..I was looking for maybe somebody who has taken both together just to ease my mind but I did it anyway as I was in pain but also anxious

Hi, I take both when necessary and I have been using them for over 50 years (no I am not addicted to either because I take them only when I need them and I don't exceed the recommend dosage). Diazepam 5mg is a prescription drug that is very useful for relieving pain and not harmful if taken as directed. Recommend that you do not drive when you are taking it. Paracetamol 500mg and codeine 30mg is also a prescription drug and very useful for controlling pain., once again I recommend not driving if you are taking it because it can have a sedative effect.

Thank you..Yea I also take when needed ..codeine and paracetamol is daily but stated dose..diazipam only every now and then and no more than 5mg a day as ime scared of anything bad happening
