Hi

I have been going out for the last month for a walk but am lucky that I have areas near me that are not busy.

The reason for this that is I am on Steroids for Polymyalgia this effect the muscles and causes inflammation. I found I was much worse staying in although I was trying to exercise at home its not the same as a nice walk.

I had a shielding letter but walked the dogs everyday and went shopping once a week, off for an ultrasound scan at the hospital tomorrow so no change for me.

My hubby had a shielding letter due to

being immunosuppressed from advanced cancer treatment and we have both been in lockdown for 11 weeks now. We will remain so for at least the next couple of weeks - after all, nothing has changed as far as Covid-19 is concerned. It is still out there.......and so are asymptomatic people. Plus we are just outside the London area which has been so badly affected. Our D-i-L’’s Uncle died in a London hospital and our neighbour passed away after catching it in hospital after being admitted for a separate condition.

Wise women. I think too many people are trusting this government, thinking that their advice can be trusted when imo IT CAN NOT! Do your own research and stay safe.

I do trust the scientists but even they are now divided, especially with regard to returning to school. But this novel virus is a totally unprecedented situation - much has to be trial and error. I certainly wouldn’t want to be a decision-maker for the country in this and don’t envy them their jobs. They’re damned if they do and they’re damned if they don’t. Each of us has to make what we feel is the best decision for ourselves and for our loved ones. Keep safe especially now everyone.

I trust the scientists. It's this bloody government I don't trust.

Have no wish to get into politics on this - it is a heart forum after all, and a very good one at that. Let’s keep it that way.

Sadly due to how this world is run politics plays a big part in not only how the world is run, but our health systems. Thats how the NHS was formed after all.

Had a text but no letter. My husband and I have been going for a walk about 7:15 most mornings (when I feel well enough). I have no problem waiting for it to be clear to go out as I don’t intend to give my family any worry about me. One of my daughters is worn out as she is an intensive care nurse on Covid Ward. My other daughter is asthmatic so has been isolating since early March. I’m looking forward to seeing them again. Patience is a virtue. Stay safe everyone.

Blaming the Government doesn’t help. We all supported each other at the start. Political bitching helps no one.

I can believe you when you say your daughter is worn out bless her. Tell her we do appreciate what she is doing.

Don’t really think it’s bitching when it comes to the government. They are paid handsomely for doing their job and unfortunately they are not doing a good job. This isn’t bitching it’s fact. They say they have so much compasity of tests yet they are relying on people flying into our country to self isolate? Why don’t they test people as they come in?

This is the problem with this country nowadays. So many of the public are experts and know better because they believe everything they read in the media, but still want to blame the government when they don’t like how it affects them personally. Want to be treated like adults but when told to use common sense and take some personal responsibility for their actions then accuse ministers of not giving them specific guidance.

Am acting like an adult I haven’t moved for 10 weeks. Just making a point that we have the capacity to test 200,000 people but not using the tests in airports etc. Perhaps Dominic Cummings should have used a bit of common sense. We wouldn’t have known about this if it wasn’t for the media.

Look at the beaches, media reporting gets us these pictures. That’s why I am staying in.

They were elected by the people for the people to speak and act in our interests sometimes it seems that they are there for there own good

I have and shielded for 11 weeks Read the SAGE minutes last Sunday and have been going out since Govt lied about community transmission from day one

Completely agree with you, first it was the care homes that were ignored now it’s the shielding. It’s as if the over seventies don’t matter

Prada47 profile image
Prada47 in reply toMydogBrandy

I think you may be correct about the over 70s we are cared about, but and here it comes not as much as the productive members of the population who have a long future in front of them.

I also think one of the reasons they are relaxing the Rules is that the NHS has Recovered and is better prepared should a second spike occur, oh and Track & Trace is working!!

And finally it sounds very cynical but a lot of the very vulnerable and old have sadly passed

Yes I know🙏🏻 and all my thoughts are with all the families who have lost loved ones. Stay safe too

Sadly I feel that the economically inactive are seen as a burden by the government and that their focus has always been on the economy and their policy has remained 'herd immunity' in all but name - no one could be as inept in testing, tracking and tracing or protecting the vulnerable and NHS staff.

Hi, good point. Yes we are still shielding and will continue to do so till the infection figures reduce drastically.

No way! It is far too soon to start mingling. A few more weeks of isolating and grocery delivery for me.

Hi I had the letter due to my many underlying conditions and I haven’t had anything else either keeping me inside or allowing me to go out. I have been out for 2 short walks, masked up.

I am not comfortable with lifting the lockdown although it seems that a lot of people are disregarding the rules, cramming onto beaches, etc. I live in the North West, one of the most badly affected areas and I am convinced we will see another spike in a week or so.

We have a large house in France but couldn’t get there, which has been a real blow. Who knows what the garden and pool will be like by the time travel is allowed. That is another story too because I am actually quite afraid of the idea of going on an overnight ferry and having to stay somewhere to break the journey on our way down to the south of France. I keep thinking that as we’ve been in lockdown now since we’ll before the official day was announced, to try to travel and then catch it would be truly tragic.
