Amolodapine and verapamil

My experience of two was that Amlodipine is very effective on BP and Diltiazem as an anti-anginals. In fact when I stopped Diltiazem my BP stayed the same.

Choice depends on what conditions your GP is treating and what they want to achieve.

Hi Rainbow1961

I am on both Diltiaziem and Amlodipine.

Along with nitrates and nicorandil to try and control my vasospastic angina.

If I didn't take them I would have even more pain. I could have severe coronary spasms leading to a heart attack or arrthymias.

For me the side effects are an acceptable risk. However that's me.

I suggest you discuss your concerns with your Cardiologist or Pharmacist.

I am sorry to hear that.

Verampril and Diltiaziem are often used to help prevent coronary vasospasms .

The difficulty is that beta blockers can make vasospasms worse and are contraindicated if you have coronary artery spasms causing vasospastic angina.

Are you able to discuss the issue with the doctor who prescribed the Amlodipine?

They should have given you an explanation of their reasoning about prescribing the medication.

Are amodapine and verapamil beta blockers ?

Amlodipine, Verapamil and Diltiaziem are calcium channel blockers.

They relax the blood vessels so are used to treat high blood pressure and angina

Beta blockers are often prescribed to people following a heart attack.
