I'm having trouble getting back off to sleep, after waking-up from going for a wee !! I'm not worrying about anything but my mind is so active with many unrelated thoughts ! I do not require sleeping tablets but is there any thing else on the market, that would be of help for me ? Thanks, Eric.

sleep dis-order
Is it being caused by meds? I found i was having similar problem, poss cause was Bisoprolol,
If you are ok to have them, I find a Banana an hour(ish) before bed really helps me.
Gaz
I'll try a banana . thanks.
I have this problem mostly all the time, awake since 4.30 this morning, I have yet to find a remedy apart from accepting it . Thank goodness I,m retired. Mine has been going on for a long time after 10 years of shift work. My brain just won,t switch off ,it’s like a butterfly going from one thing to the next.
Try a podcast? I've yet to get to the end of any questions/any answers...
If I had a hammer💤. Bisoprolol is taking a 🔨 ing again. But ....wot do I know?

Try a mindfulness app like insight timer there are guided talks to help you clear your mind and get into deep sleep
I love the insight timer app such a good suggestion.
It's also free😊
I used it last night as my mind was very busy, the one I find most useful is “whole being relaxation into deep sleep “ by Gordon Burnham
I try to not eat or drink anything after 7pm and go to bed at 11.20 after squeezing out every drop that I can, and try and make sure I don't need to get up in the night. I also try and avoid the 4pm slump into an afternoon sleep. Usually manage to sleep until 6 am.
I heard a sleep specialist state that sleep comes in waves and it is normal to wake up to check for predators. If I wake I open one eye and look round . Any lions or tigers? No - go back to sleep. Sometimes it works.
I have the same thing, and my conclusion was that worrying about it kept me awake! I find relaxation gets me off back to sleep. Quite often now I'll put on a podcast, and rarely hear more than the first ten minutes. Many years ago I bought a tape (which shows how long ago it was) for better sleeping, and it had me focus on somewhere I had previously been comfortable - basically a distraction technique to take my mind away from being busy and to focus on one thing. It worked really well.
The NHS site has some good tips on insomnia and sleeplessness. Personally I find getting enough physical exercise during the day, no caffeine, and not eating before bed help.
