Considering this looks very much like an FFP3 mask that are needed on ICU units and in care homes, may I ask where did you get it? It also needs to be fit tested to ensure that there is an effective seal.

I purchased 3 in Spain about 4 years ago from a hardware shop for DIY. I've not seen them in the UK

Do take care when taking in and off that you only use the loops. As you breathe in, if any virus is around it will land on your mask so unless it is replaced the outside will be coated in virus.

It’s a shame there are no ads from the Govt showing how to put a mask on and remove it safely, either disposing of it carefully or popping a cotton one in a cotton bag ready to put in the washing machine on arrival home. They should also explain that a clean mask is required for the journey home.

Take care.

I agree Speakeasi

There needs to be a public campaign about how to use face coverings and masks properly

They are only part of the solution

Testing tracing notification and isolating are important along with continued social distancing

Oh and washing your hands 😊

From what I've read valve masks are not recommended. They protect you but not other people. Your breath can be filtered out the valve.

I am not sure how to post articles but I've read a few.

My friend who works in a care home said that when she was being trained up she was told that these masks and similar masks are only good for 20 minutes. After that you are supposed to bin them.x

If everybody wore a simple mask to protect others ie stop your germs spreading, I think that would see a drop in new cases, it's a no brainer really.
