Hi Thank you for your reply. I had an heart attack on 25th May 2019 while on holiday in Spain, I was put on medications while in ICU. when I was discharged from hospital in Spain I had been given enough medications to get me home to Halifax, W. Yorkshire, I was supposed to go straight to the cardiac unit arranged by my own doctor, this was ignored so I was transferred to Huddersfield infirmary and put in a isolation ward because I had been in a foreign hospital. I was not given anymore medication till 19th July 2019 When I went to Halifax for a revue of my heart condition, the doctor I saw said he was surprised I had not had another heart attack, at this time I was put on a number of tablets including Clopidogrel I am still on all of these tablets, but I read somewhere on this forum that taking this particular tablet long term can be harmful to other organs.
Typically it is prescribed for 12 months but this can be extended sometimes by a year or more. It is really a decision for your consultant in Halifax as he knows your clinical details which may influence the decision.
Whilst on it you should neither take Aspirin nor Ibuprofen as a pain killer although, if prescribed, a 75mg Aspirin is acceptable. Another drug (?) to avoid is St. John's Wort.
Good spot! A typo that has been corrected.
