I have been diagnosed with a heart condition (undulated LV and RV Hypertrabeculated LV apex) and still awaiting my second ECO test results. I have not received a shielding letter, should I have or should I be shielding ?
Has anyone else been diagnosed with this condition?
Take care x

I have a diagnosis of hypertrabeculation at the apex of my left ventricle: in my case, it's because I've been doing endurance sports for three decades - swimming, then marathon running, then triathlons - and it's probably not something for me to worry about.
I found out about it more than a year ago, at 59, when I volunteered for a sports cardiology research project and had an echocardiogram, which also found an ascending aortic aneurysm, which is why I am on this forum.
I'm not hypertensive, not on any heart-related medications, and my cardiologist agrees with me that there is no reason to consider me at increased risk of Covid-19, though it is definitely a condition I don't want to have, given the many unknowns about long-term lung and heart damage that may - or may not - be a problem for survivors.
My most recent cardiology clinic was over the phone and I have to say, it was absolutely great. I just hope that the half-hour conversation didn't stop someone else getting equally good advice and reassurance! This is the kind of question you must discuss with your doctor; your history and the context for their advice will probably be different from mine, but please don't be scared: it's good to know about these things.
