Can anyone recommend a hypnosis for stopping smoking. I believe they can do it online. So I don’t think it matters where they are. Also can you give me a ball park figure too. Thanks

Not sure about hypnosis but I went on to the prescription 'Champix'. This blocks the receptors and takes the nicotine out so the addiction leaves. Can be on it for a few weeks but it is powerful and helped me after 40 years of smoking. I am now 4 years smoke free and no withdrawal or stress issues. Good luck.

I tried champix 8 years ago after hypnosis, gums, vaping, patches and will power. I stopped smoking for the 8 years after champix then was offered a fag and have smoked for the past 6 months. I am on champix again I hope for a shorter time but it really does work. Remember not even one fag after you decide to stop. Vaping keeps you addicted to nicotine all the time so try not to. Kids are now very addicted to nicotine through vaping think about it and do you really want to stop this dirty filthy habit ??? STOP MEANS STOP. Hope this helps, you will feel much better for it. 💓 health.

I tried them 11yrs ago I was throwing up every where😫It wasn’t pleasant as it could have happened while out walking etc. Did this happen to you. I’m willing to try anything.

No it didn't happen 8 years ago and not this time either. Don't feel any different. If it does that again see your doctor. Everything deserves a second chance though ?? May not have been the tablets. But it's really the easiest way certainly for me.

Thanks for this positive feedback. Someone hasn’t been as kind as you and the others 😢Can they prescribe them after heart attacks and stents.

I think you will need to ask your doctor that question everyone is different. It might even be different for males and females also UK and elsewhere. I have HOCM been through more tests but manage it on tablets at moment. Everything seems slower now with covid19. I purchased mine through an internet pharmacy this time £132 for 2months supply. NHS short of money and NHS very busy. Free from docs though.

Are you on your own or have people living with you. It's always easier if you have go doctors. After all it the smoking that hasn't helped. And if you ever need an op they won't do it readily for smokers.

It’s me and my hubby. He gave them up 3-4 years ago. I will be next.

Your hubby should be able to suggest a good way to get there maybe. And encourage you.😁

Mine was prescribed after my HA. Agreed, I was starting to throw up within 3 mins of taking them during the second week but I was relentless and halved the tablet and it worked.

My son in law and his mum had hypnosis many years ago. They had tried everything to stop smoking but nothing worked. They were both heavy smokers who rolled their own. He contacted a hypnotist in Huddersfield who also used acupuncture. Neither of them have smoked since.

Oh thank you so much. For this positive news. I feel this is the route I need to take. I’m going to research as much as I can. My cousin got it done I London and it was very successful for her also. Xx

Hi after 50 years of smoking I gave up 5 years ago following Hypnotherapy. It took two sessions of an hour each and a total cost of £250. Best money I have ever spent. Good luck not sure about online though !

I’ve heard of nothing but good experiences. I suppose I’ve to bite the bullet and pick someone that I feel I can feel comfortable with. I’m sure these things can be done over the internet at this time. Or would you advise to wait until I can go face to face. Thanks

I’ve tried the vape as my husband uses one. I’m not keen on it. But thank you. I need to quit full stop I’m way to young for all this. It will be 4 weeks tomorrow morning from when I had my 2 heart attacks. And 9 days previous I had the same pains so they assume that was my first heart attack. 😳

I know it sounds very Glib of me to say this, I have never smoked so I don't really know how hard it is, however I used to like a beer or 6. Following my "episode" I have found it very easy to give up all manner of things, including vastly reducing alcohol consumption. I think you should also bear in mind that the current virus targets the lungs so anyone who smokes needs to stop NOW, or it could end badly for them? Personally I find it incredible that anyone who has had a heart attack is still smoking!!!

Obviously you where not addicted to food or alcohol. I’ve no problem doing the other health changes at all. But smoking is a crutch and a addiction which you need help with. As you say you never smoked you you’ve no idea.

Well, its your life. Personally I don't fancy a return trip to Derby Royal.

I use self hypnosis to help me manage my acute pain episodes. I use visualisations, breathing and meditation techniques with music which takes me to a calmer place.

I was taught self hypnosis to help me when I had my children over 20 years ago.

It is a very powerful technique that you can use in other areas of your life.

I am not surprised to read everyone's positive experiences of hypnosis in helping them to stop smoking.

Good luck!

It is indeed.

You could also get other support from an NHS smoking cessation clinic though I expect they have been cancelled for the time being

My partner had hypnosis for smoking . It was very succrssful..

He had been a smoker on and off for fifty years.

A year ago he decided to try hypnosis in our town, Bath. I think it cost £250 .

It really worked. He stopped smoking after just one session and has not had any urge to smoke since, ( not even when with friends who smoke).

I was a heavy smoker (40 plus a day ) and had smoked for at least 30 years until one day I became so sick of being addicted to the stinking habit

I booked a single session with a hypnotist that cost £60.

I never smoked or wanted to smoke again. That was approx 20 years ago. I know of others who had hypnotism but started smoking again after a week or so. I think it works when you really truly want to stop! 😱

Hi Sorcha1973 I was a hypnotherapist but retired now. What you can do on your own is visualisation. Before that remember your very first cigarette and why you took it. You have probavly trained yourself to smoke and gone through the bad taste dizziness and even nausea. You are not that person any more. You have grown up and can retrain yourself. Go somewhere quiet and relax. Use visualisation of a place you like to be bringing in all your senses. Feel the breeze etc. Just relax. Feel your body relaxing from head to toe bit by bit. Sink down into seeing your self one by one the situations where you normally smoke but you are not smoking. You are feeling relaxed. Visualise yourself with a cigarette but the taste of the most horrible taste you have ever had fills your mouth and catches your throat. You have to put the cigarette out and you feel great relief when you do. Visualise yourself in a situation where you may be offered a cigarette. Say out loud, No thank you I don't smoke. Say out loud I am a permanent non smoker. Do all this for as long as you feel relaxed. Feel good about refusing cigarettes. It doesn't mater if you fall asleep just go back and do this practice whenever you want to. This may take time or you may accept being a non smoker quite readily. Break a cigarette and let it crumble through your fingers. Smell how horrible your hands are. Look at a filthy ash tray and visualise the black gunge filling your lungs. Say I am a permanent non smoker and No thank you I don't smoke as a mantra and feel relief every time.

Hypnosis is nothing strange. Visualisation is open to everyone and has a powerful effect. Did you have to sit and ponder how to get yourself to the kitchen to put on the kettle. No, your unconscious takes you. Simple as that. If you really want to stop smoking you can. And please don't give any unsmoked cigarettes away when you have. Break them up into crumbs and be glad. You don't want to hand on poison to another person. Arsenic is only one of the poisons used in their production. Good luck!

I smoked for 40 years. I went to a hypnotherapist in 1998 and haven’t smoked for 22 years. From coming out of his address I have never ever considered wanting a cigarette

Hallo, I am a hypnotherapist since 1995. I have helped many people give up smoking over the last 25 years so I know it works. Many times my clients have stopped permanently after the first session. Sometimes they need followup sessions. You really need to be sure why you want to give it up, not just doing it because someone else wants you to.

I can talk you through it on WhatsApp or on landline on speakerphone. Clare Ray

Have you tried Allen Carr’s book Easy way to stop smoking? It really does work!

Hi Sorcha1973, myself and my mom attended an Allan Carr Hypnotherapist group session 24 years ago. We were both heavy smokers back then, it cost £120 back then. Walked out of there and never smoked or had an urge to smoke again since. No withdrawal symptoms at all. The main thing I remember from the session is 'there's no such thing as just the one' highly recommend. Best thing I ever did! Good luck.

Hi Sorcha

Alastair Kenmore Cardiologist stopped me, I had been smoking for about 15 years quite Heavy as cigs Duty Free. The day after my MI he came round to talk to me.

Magic words he used " I can Assure If you Smoke Again it will Shorten your Life by a Considerable Number of Years " I never touched one again. and I was surprised how easy it was. I wouldn't touch one now because Alastair passed away and I wouldn't know who to turn to.

Only magic words I have for " You can do it you really really want to ".

Good Wishes and Luck

Hi, it's very difficult to stop smoking. I smoked for almost 46 years ,stopping only when I was pregnant x3. I had a heart attack at the end of May last year, it terrified me as it was touch and go at first. In hospital I was given patches but they did nothing, but my cardiologist told me " one more cigarette and you will die". I havent touched one since , and when I saw him in clinic he was absolutely delighted with me. Although I still fancy one now and again I haven't weakened as his words are in my head! Although I have gained 4kgs I feel better, now I have got to get the weight off ! I hope you find something that works for you, good luck, you can do it! Take care, stay safe.
