A serious dose of schmaltz.

I was 8 when that film came out. My parents took us to the Queen's Cinema (it had a huge new screen) in Newcastle Upon Tyne. We travelled 45 minutes to get there and it was planned for weeks. It was like Ferris Buellers big Day out. We went for a Chinese meal (we never went out for meals) My Sister and me felt super treated. The simple pleasures.

Yes the first property we bought was in Chirton just along from West Percy Road. I enjoyed the time I lived there it was before the Meadowell riots which was 5 minutes away.

It played for a full year in the Carlton Cinema in Oxford Street Swansea - this was a huge cinema that held 3,000 people. Films used to hang around those days, if my memory serves me here Ryan's Daughter with John Miles spent the year 1970 there, followed by Love Story spending 1971 there

Went on a trip from work one evening to see it in Liverpool. Had coach from and back to Chester, but arrived back too late for my last bus home. Can't remember if they had a whip round to get me a taxi or I walked the 3 and a half miles home.
