Palpitations...is my heart being damaged ?

Hi guys, Iv'e been on a couple of times spouting about my nightime palpitations. Things seem to be getting worse. I have had this "mystery condition" for about 4 years, EVERY bloody night without fail. They are VERY hard single palpitations, like an elecric shock sometimes and my wife says she can actually hear my heart jumping when we are in bed. After exaustive tests on several occasions my consultants can find nothing untoward ..it dosn't make any sense. Obviously my sleep is all over the place but I am wondering if these palps could be damaging my heart in some shape or form. I dont get any problems during the day and am reasonably fit and otherwise healthy.

Any help would be appreciated...

Just to ask the obvious daft question but do you drink coffee? I used to get them years ago, a while ago I bought some Ugandan beans my God I thought my heart was coming out of my chest. It could be something you are ingesting?

Yes, its worth consideration...this as well as other gastric related theories.....the physical action of laying down seems to trigger it off....its all very bizarre.......thanks for the post.

I used to get them years ago and cut down massively on coffee. Over the years I have taken to having decent coffee but came a cropper with the Ugandan one as it had no strength rating. If you drink coffee at all try knocking it on the head and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply, yes tried a halter a couple of times....nothing much showed up..that's why nothing makes sense....I am looking now at possibility that it could be something out of whack on the electrical side, but I am clutching at straws here...

Hi

I take it when you had the Holter monitor you had them at that time? so they would be able to see your heart trace and know what was causing them ?? Did you indicate on the monitor the exact time you had them. and yes if you have them continuously they can cause further Heart Problems but it is something you need to discuss with a Medical Professional.
