Selfish behaviour in the great outdoors

You may remember that I posted ealier this week about getting out in nature in a responsible way. I am so upset this morning that the National Trust have reversed their decision to keep parkland open. Apparently they were mobbed yesterday and people would not stay apart. So that's been spoilt by selfish behaviour. I found the same at my local Wildlife Trust reserve. I would suggest that you go in the week when it's quieter if you are planning to get out. I consoled my self in my own garden as I discovered my hedgehogs are up and it's alway nice watching them. If people keep treating this like an extra holiday we we all end up on lock down. Such a shame as it's so good for our wellbeing

Such a shame as exercise and fresh air is so important to wellbeing and not all have green space around them.

I had a walk around our local lake yesterday. People weren’t selfish - but there were just a few too many of us for me to feel comfortable. I’ll be walking the ugliest routes from now on.

funny you should say that hedgehog lady. it’s been the same down the country park iv been using everyday since heart attack 2 years ago

prior to corona i would maybe pass half a dozen people on way round. it’s been a buried the last few days but yesterday took the biscuit. thought i was in sauchihall street. i got out as fast as i could but was in it way too long for my liking. the really angry thing for me was every had dogs running around not on a leash. i actually stumbled over a wee one at one point. i’m yet to hear an apology. now for the moan. the thing with taking dogs to a public park which i understand it is and i have nothing against the dogs. it’s the irresponsible behaviour of the owners that really riled me. the stand around in groups admiring one another’s pooches right in the middle of the footpath oblivious to everyone around them. forcing Me onto grass verge which is still very wet and mucky here. where’s the social distancing. needless to say i’ll have to find somewhere else to walk as it’s way too busy. as you say many are just treating it as a holiday. i really don’t mind but could you at least have the rods on a leash and be considerate to others around. rant over “”iv been roasting all friends and family all week about it so maybe i better drop it for now🤣stay safe hearties ❤️

Well put.

U are correct. We are on lock down where I live in the US. Luckily we live in a rural area so have plenty of space here to move about... if it ever quits raining!!!

Thankyou! I just came in as even our older dogs wouldnt go out in the hard rain. So ol grandma here put on her mud boots and raincoat and tromped around with the pup. It is probably good for me, lol.

the rain doesn’t really keep me in. if you didn’t go out in the rain in scotland you wouldn’t leave the house 🤣having said that it’s probably nothing compared to lots of countries that gets extreme weather

Good point. My mothers parents were from scotland. Not sure of details or what year they came to the US, probably around 1900. His name was John Gibbs
