Hi Peter

Thanks for your very interesting post. I was very taken with the table showing the improvement in your BMI, waist size and weight and your comments on the difficulties of keeping your weight down. I liked your quote:

'Most forms of heart disease are very treatable today. There is some evidence that normalizing high blood pressure and lowering cholesterol to very low levels will partially reverse plaques in the coronary arteries. They won't go away completely, but they shrink enough to make a difference.'

Do you have any details of the sources for your 'there is some evidence that.'...?

I hope you manage to get your diet back under control, you have the entire cake industry, greggs and uncle Tom Cobbley and all against you, Fight the good fight.

These are quotes I found just by surfing the internet and this particular one seemed to fit in with what I have experienced in through parkrun.

When I first started I found it difficult to keep going without getting angina pain so was very intermittent walking/jogging. Over time I have managed to increase the length of the running until running the full 5km with less angina and then improving my times.

To me this seems to indicate I’m getting a better blood flow with exercise.

Well done Peter! Can empathise with you about the constant struggle with weight. They say you can't get addicted to sugar but sometimes it feels like it. I know I'm better with total abstinence because if I have a bit it's difficult to control. Have got a gym programme from the trainer who does the cardiac rehab so super happy about that. Onwards and upwards!

It all comes down to self discipline over what I eat which has sadly been a bit lacking over the last year or so.
