Was in London yesterday and found myself in a shop called Choose Love. You go in, pick up a gift card and select an item or just donate and the present goes to refugees. Anything from nappies to a medical kit. Felt good to do something for someone else. You can do it online too.

Choose Love Shop
Where in London is this?
Oh, I thought it was a dodgy link like arrive in the spam mails from Russian ladies! Glad it isn't!
This is great. I buy my sons and nieces a gift for someone else through goodgifts.org You can buy similar things for others in the Uk and world wide. For those who can’t make it to this shop...
A few years ago my adult children seemed to be drowning in consumer goods, every week there was something else they had purchased. My wife and I decided that we didn’t want to add to their ever increasing pile of unnecessary goods so we said no more Christmas / birthday presents for adults (only grandchildren) and we donate the money to the local homeless charity. Doing the same with Christmas cards this year, family will get a text or phone call , the charity will get a bit extra , the environment will be saved a tiny tiny tiny amount and perhaps best of all...................I won’t have to write out the cards
Seriously though the best bit is helping the homeless shelter, I can’t imagine anything worse than not having a safe place to return to at the end of the day.
Good for you chdjazz.Like you I feel so very strongly about the homeless and always donate what I can.I always think there but for the grace of God(or fortune if you prefer)go I or mine.Happy Christmas to you and yours.
Maybe I’m old school but it use to be Christmas was a special time of the year that you waited to give and receive a gift you were grateful for. Today it seems like children and grandchildren just buy toys and items all year round that we thought of as luxuries. Or maybe it is experiencing more of what life is truly about as we grow older and wiser.
My hubby and I have changed our giving patterns. We give more to the needy and more to organizations that provide out reach programs to struggling families working hard to send their children to good schools and provide them with basic health care.
This year we decided to cut back on the family gift giving and instead give each child the gift of giving money to their favorite charity. We will announce this at our family Christmas Dinner followed by a prayer thanking God for all the Blessings He has showered us with in our life.
Merry Christmas From Across The Pond!
what a great idea. our local costa store has gift tags hanging on its tree. local people who are in need write on a tag what they would like for christmas, hang it on the tree and customers take a card ,buy the present and put it under the tree before being contributed. they can’t keep up with demand as tags are gone within the hour. the card i took brought tears to a glass eye. little girl of 7 wanted soft pyjamas as the ones she had were hard. god love her. we don’t know how lucky we are❤️
