Thanks for everyone's support. I'm ok today. Got checked out & due to other health issues I experience, it hadn't been my heart, phew! I suffer from esophagitis, hiatus hernia & chronic bowel problems. Its been a build up of digestive problems.
The pain has stopped today. Been told due to my heart condition only need to visit A & E if I have very bad pain in middle of chest, very bad palpatations or very short of breath. Not that simple though is it!!

You are right it's not that simple. Try and recall the the symptoms you experienced the other night - write it down be specific and this may help you decide what to do if it happens again. Above all though if in any doubt visit A&E again - I am sceptical about that advice you were given about pain in centre of chest as there are many other symptoms of HA and heart distress - I had no pain in centre of chest my pain was at the top of chest and base of neck area. Pleased you are ok
i was always of the opinion like yourself.. that not all heart related problems necessarily mean pain in the middle of the chest.. i sometimes experience angina pain left or right of centre chest and also in the neck and back.. paramedic also advised that women tend to have less obvious signs of heart problems than men
Hmm. I agree with other hearties that heart attacks (especially for women) don’t always involve a very bad pain in the central chest area. Thanks for letting us know how you got on.
Glad you're OK. I too think the advice they've offered is a bit suspect, bad pain in the middle of the chest is not the only symptom. I'd go with the attend A&E if you're able to, if you're too unwell to make it to A&E ring 999
