Research is showing that vaping is bad for heart health (link below). It does seem that apart as a short term strategy to giving up smoking vaping should be avoided. Personally I prefer the smell of cigarettes to those vast white clouds of fruity smelling smoke but would rather smell fresh air!
Vaping is Bad for You! : Research is... - British Heart Fou...
Vaping is Bad for You!
The Telegraph article is reporting on a German study - it should be noted British medics disagree with the study findings and will continue to recommend vaping to patients.
I've been vaping since 2013 - helped me stop smoking 20+'regular' cigarettes a day, and I'm now down to a low percentage of nicotine in the liquid (8%, the lowest available on the UK site I order from).
When I had a 'wobble' with my heart and went to the doctor, I made a point of saying I vape, first at the GP and then at the Rapid Access Chest Pain unit. My GP and cardiologist both approve my use of the device as long as my e-liquid continues to be made here in the UK according to strict UK (and EU) standards. They say they'd much rather I use the vape device than 'regular' tobacco, and that they don't believe my vaping has had anything to do with the 'wobble' - that happened owing to invasive dental work that caused an infection to end up in my pericardium.
I vape on, but I pay close attention to all vape studies and reporting on those studies - and I always 'consider the source' before taking the study too seriously. Many of these reports aimed at discrediting the use of vape devices are funded by 'Big Tobacco'.
I would gladly be a part of any UK based study conducted by a reputable university willing to be transparent on their funding, or the BMA.
You can reduce the nicotine level further by mixing low nicotine with no nicotine. I managed to reduce it slowly over time until I got to no nicotine and, soon after that, vaping seemed to become unnecessary. I didn't really give it up - it gave me up!
I strongly believe it is better not to vape - but vaping is better than tobacco.
I am reducing the nicotine percentage, hoping to go to the zero soon and then give up vaping altogether.
That’s my plan aswell Sunnie2day
I found it easier to take those last few steps by mixing fluids myself to taper off. It was the last few steps that were the most difficult. Good Luck!
Aww Sunnie as an ex 20 a day girl myself it ain't easy giving them up is it. I think the jury is out as to how bad vaping is for you but we absolutely know how bad smoking is so, to my mind it's the lesser of 2 evils?
I think the jury has come back (ETA: this Telegraph piece is not behind a paywall):

Quitting smoking 'regular' cigarettes is much easier with a vape device - but it's still got risks although the article I've just linked reports within a month of switching arteries of former 'regular' smokers cleared dramatically.
The risks apparently are outweighed by the benefits but only for former smokers and in my mind, that indeed makes it the lesser of two evils.
Hi Michael, i don't know whether vaping is healthier than smoking.
But i do know that vaping is causing my Son a few problems. He buys his liquid from a shop near where he lives in the UK. BUT for the last few months he's been complaining about pains in his chest. His throat is sore and he sounds a bit hoarse .
Sometimes he's been leaving the vape alone for a week or so and having a normal cigarette instead. When he does this, his voice doesn't sound so rough, the pains in his chest eases off and he said he feels a lot better by leaving the Vape alone and just having a Ciggy. .
When I asked my Cardiologist about Vaping, he said that he couldn't say which of the 2 would cause the most problems
But obviously he advised against both in no uncertain terms..👃.I'd prefer to smell the fresh air, even though I do have a ciggy every now again .I'm gonna have a Nicotinell Lozenge in a minute, even though I don't like the taste. I have to try and give up, or at least cut right down
Im having MAJOR SURGERY in a few weeks time. They can only do the operation under a General Anaesthetic,.So i have to see my Anaesthetist 1st ,I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will give the Go ahead 🤞
😊.Gjkas
I'm a complete non smoker ( have never smoked) , but, I would rather see someone smoking a cigarette than vaping!
My reasoning is that we all know how bad cigarettes are, but vaping has been 'sold' as a better alternative, and I'm not convinced that it has been properly tried and tested!
I hate seeing youngsters (especially) puffing away, inhaling goodness knows what?
I'm not scientifically minded, so I try and simplify everything, and imo vaping has not been proven to be safe, we know the risks associated with smoking cigarettes, but, we have no idea what long term usage of vaping can cause.
The UK vaping market is worth over £1bn per annum and expected to exceed £2bn in 2020! As such a lot of "parties" do not like negative publicity. I see all these flavours as a cynical marketing exercise to attract youngsters in the same way as alcopops around 20 years ago. I smoked in 6th form college and then again for under a year in my mid-twenties - maybe two smoking years. That's probably why I prefer the smell - it tended to be Senior Service or Capstan Full Strength! 😎
Quite a few of the Vaping companies have quietly been taken over by Tobacco companies. Some of the reports coming out of America regarding sudden deaths in young people are very disturbing and need a lot more inspiration in their investigation.
Ah yes. Senior service 5 for a shilling, not forgetting woodbines, otherwise known as coffin nails.
Here in the US it's been deadly. This discussion has come up here before. If you have a heart condition get rid of it all.
My opinion and I have a right to it.
I have no opinions as I don't smoke.
However, I learned that you cannot "tell" grown adults not to do it.
Maybe, FDA bans it soon.
I'm surprised that these are still openly sold in the UK when NHS has no cash to keep rescuing people, who developed lifestyle-related HDs! I still hold my opinion for MacDonald to install hospitals for their customers that include dispensing free blood sugar monitor/strips.
You are right. There's nothing wrong to have your own opinions!
This burger joint (I struggle to call it a restaurant) has a hospital theme. Sick IMHO!

Did you see the names of the sandwiches? Omg
It's all about choices. People have been educated on the good and bad.
I tend to avoid burgers as you do not know what goes into them! Definitely better to make your own. With reference to big meat portions I occasionally (but they closed years ago) used to go for a jumbo mixed grill consisting of a 10oz steak, pork chop, chicken breast and a proper sausage (not the factory paste style ones - ). I doubt I ate a third of the chips though.
