Has the medication Entresto been offered ? You say you are in the South West could you say what area roughly you are in. I am in the Poole/Bournemouth area and we have very good Heart Failure Nursing Services.
How has your Heart Failure been diagnosed was it by your GP or Cardiology ?? and do you have an EF or a NYHA classification they are both important components of your diagnosis which can lead to additional treatments. Doctors are supposed to follow NICE guidance on treatments, depending on the patients medical circumstances..
You could phone your MP and complain that's if you feel they are not just a waste of space like most of them are !!!
l was diagnosed by Cardiology after being in A&E.We do not have Heart Failure nurses here.Could i ask what the classification is l only have hospital discharge papers.my gp is unwilling to change my medication.l am in Devon.
I take it from your reply that you had an Echocardiogram whilst in A & E that's how they will have come to the conclusion that you have Heart failure. If that's correct you will have an Ejection Fraction it's how well your Heart is Pumping it is around 55% which is the benchmark for a normal pumping capacity. I think now under NICE guidelines you should have access to a Heart Failure Clinic ask your GP or contact PALS at the Hospital that confirmed your diagnosis. A closed face book group Pumping Marvellous has some excellent advice has BHF Cardiac Nurses.
we do not have a heart failure clinic wete i live.with regard to the ejection fraction nothing is written on paperwork l am sure i was told be the consultant but cannot remember.Regards
Hi firstdates, it sounds like you need a much swifter cardiology appt. Usual heart failure meds would include something like a beta blocker too along with the ramipril and specialist diuretics like spironolactone. But I don't know what other conditions you might have or what other medication, I'm not a medic! But do have heart failure myself.
I think prada is right you are entitled to a heart failure specialist and I urge you to visit Pumping Marvellous website, I've found that really helpful. Good luck! X
At least your not alone, but funny it is not. A blood test by gp showed elevated markers for heart failure. Fast tracked to cardiology that day 7th October, and as yet I have no information or appointment. I have rang 3 hospital's to see if I am on a waiting list, which would be a step forward, but not yet apparently. I really dont know what to do next. The gp gave me ramipiral, but I cannot see a gp to get a repeat prescription. The system is shocking. Jane
That is a very long wait. where my cardiologist is based in birmingham they have a 2month wait for ablation or 1month if private. Follow up app's & any tests he requests along with medication are done as soon as his clinic ends. I feel very very fortunate to have such great care (qe hosp b.ham)
