I was 42 when i had a bypass following a mild tightening feeling in my chest when commuting to work. interesting enough i was very fit and health. training 4 times a week, 2 of those training sessions i was doing HIT training and could happly train for 1 hour without noticing any tightness. then....

I saw a gastro consultant thinking it was gas related and when that showed up clear.. the next port of call was the cardiologist. within a week after a CTscan i was diagnosed with 3 blocked arteries with my main LAD over 95% blocked within a 1 week i was having surgery.(may 2018). they grafted a new artery for my LAD and following that i was to have stents in the other 2.

This took me by surprise and shocked as to why this happened to me

6-8 weeks after my bypass i was presented with no further symtoms so i was told not to have the stents as i was asymtomatic. untill a months ago it all started again with the tightness. last tuesday i had s stent inserted to my RCA. i am feeling much better thank god!!

I was a though time for me and family. always scary thoughts of what could have a happened if i didnt follow through with investigating the tightness.

i look at life with a postive attitude and try to live the best way i can. Thankfully i have been re plumbed ( as such) before i had HA.

Thanks

Its feels good to be part of a forum where i can let out my thoughts and anxieties.

I think we can all put our hands up and say we are scared. Scared it’s going to happen or even the thought that we might die.

This forum of Hearties is excellent as we all understand and sometimes help more with symptoms, medication and anxiety as it has or is happening to us.

You had the graft, then stented so learn to listen to your body.

Do not ignore sudden changes, pains, feeling tired, breathlessness or feeling heavy chested.

After 3 years of having a Quadruple I suddenly had a mild back pain in between my shoulders, panicked thinking no way, not again and stupidly tried to ignore it. A couple of hrs later I went to A&E and asked for an ECG and to have my bloods done to see if there was activity of a heart attack.

Thankfully the results were fine and said it could be stress.

Always get it checked out....

Enjoy each morning when you open your eyes and be happy.

Morning,

yes i agree , having a postive outlook helps my mental state and the people around, uts not always possible however we are aloud bad days.

Its really hard to get motivated with the fitness, however i was still doing martial arts, yoga , PT session and swimming weekly, when i was highly motivated. low weeks i would only do swimming as a minium. i believe doing little is better than nothing.

what i am struggling with is keeping a balanced diet. i intermitant fast 5-6 times weekly with a 8hour window of eating. however. what to eat in those hours i am finding hard. i hardly eat fast food. any help would be greatly appreciated. please

Thanks for sharing your story. It’s through sharing our stories that we all learn. I had similar ‘tightness’ of chest and no other symptoms. I didn’t think anything of it and was playing squash right up till the day before I saw the surgeon who said I had the ‘widowmaker’ blocked LAD and stop immediately. Following a bypass and change in lifestyle I am now back playing squash and feel fortunate in having survived with a massive wake up call.

its difficlut to maintain that control and find it really difficult to eat health all the time. i suppose its ok to have cheat days.

but know i feel terribly guilt if i do have a bad food day. i have a couple of glasses of wine last night and felt terrible for doing so.

like the idea of pea snacks
