had my ct angiogram yesterday

wasn't too bad

there were a few hiccups.

the cannula had to be done twice as the first one didnt go in far enough but the second went fine

was a few drops of blood on the floor from the first try, ahh the joys of asprin.

was surprised the gtn spray didn't do anything except taste horrible, had no headache even though it was my first lot.

was relieved i didn't have to hold my breath very long, the scan went ok except my heart rate skyrocketed after the first pass for some unknown reason as i was relaxed.

the contrast wasn't that bad mostly felt warm for a minute.

the worst bit was waiting for them to check if the scans were ok before i could get up, did start shaking but not sure whether it was because of being so uncomfortable or a reaction to the contrast but got a nice cup of tea

drank my tea whilst waiting for the 30 minutes before i could leave to go by, the shaking went off after quarter of a hour or so.

it wasn't too bad really, not that id want to do it again any time soon.

i suppose it'll take a few weeks for the results to get to the cardiologist.

Not a good experience but could be worse. When I had mine (had 2 now!) they kept one of the patients in at the time so I would assume if anything too bad they'd keep you there. I had to wait about 4 weeks for feedback.

Glad you thought it wasn’t too bad though obviously a bit eventful! Good no headache with GTN. Very good time to get a spike in heart rate as they’ll see exactly what was going on hopefully. Hope you don’t have to wait too long. My wait as an inpatient was next day but as an out patient 6 weeks.

thanks for the replies everybody. a month or so for the results isnt too bad
